More players join in the defense of David Warner in his ongoing verbal spat against his former teammate Mitchell Johnson. Former English batsman Vaughan has backed David Warner and said one must look at his records and his performance with the World Cups.
The spat between Warner and Johnson started back in Ashes 2023 when Johnson spoke about some things that didn’t go well with Davey and his wife Candice. All looked good until last week but Mitchell Johnson slamming Warner and The Aussie Board in his column didn’t go well with many people and a lot of support came in for Warner. Johnson was eventually sacked from the commentary panel for the upcoming series against Pakistan.
David Warner is a great of the game- Michael Vaughan
Speaking on the incident with the Daily Telegraph Michael Vaughan came in defending Warner, lauding him as one of the greats of the game.
“I do think David Warner is a great of the game. Because of what’s happened and because Dave’s had some controversy in his career, I think there’s some people who won’t give him that mantle and won’t talk about him in those lights. But you only have to look at his record. His record in World Cups,” said Michael Vaughan.
“There’s not many players who get the fairytale ending but you would say David Warner if he gets through to that last Test, which I’d back him to do so, he’s earned the right to have that fairytale send-off on his home ground,” he stated.
David Warner has 109 test matches in his career so far, mounting 8,487 runs at an average of 44.43, which includes 25 centuries.
