The Indian cricket team once again made unnecessary headlines after refusing to collect the trophy & medals from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi. After all, what happened at April end, the Pahalgham attack, when IPL was abruptly ended, there were a lot of slogans and statements made that India won’t play with Pakistan. Just before the Asia Cup 2025 commenced, the Indian government & sports ministry gave the green signal, and even Sourav Ganguly said that sports should go on no matter what happens. Doesn’t it sound like all the noise was just a tout?
Even national slogans like watch the match and show patriotism were made on social media. Isn’t this a double standard? We all have seen over the last decade that India and Pakistan don’t have amiable relations, and even after Operation Sindoor, the hype was created massively with Virender Sehwag doing a promo ad with Sony Sports. Wasn’t it a laughable one where the sacrifice of soldiers and families was overlooked for a broadcaster’s million-dollar deal, and said that no matter what happens, business will continue even if ‘n’ war happens?

Suryakumar Yadav, who scored the winning runs against Pakistan in the first leg, ignored the Pakistan team & didn’t shake hands with the opposition team. In the press conference, Suryakumar Yadav clearly mentioned that this decision was taken by the team, BCCI & higher officials as a tribute to Pahalgham. Why in place, play cricket with Pakistan if there’s so much objection? It clearly showcases how BCCI, the team & higher officials played a master stroke and succeeded in that & won the hearts of people
Suryakumar Yadav was a star and a leader overnight who showed Pakistan their place, but hang in there; was it really worth? Suryakumar got the praise from ex-cricketers and fans, but we were playing cricket, not politics, right? The irony was that Suryakumar Yadav’s viral image was seen shaking hands with ACC Chairman, PCB Chief & Pakistan’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi, well, no official statement has come from that; it would sound very harsh, but such behavior is worse than double standards.

It was the Indian cricket team that refused to take medals and collect trophy from ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and no surprises here, because Mohsin Naqvi is from Pakistan, which is head-scratching.

Just when India wins the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian honorary PM posts on ‘X’ and tags Operation Sindoor, and the entire political cell lauds India and the decision not to collect the trophy from the ACC Chairman. It’s quite clear-cut that it was a pre-planned move to degrade Pakistan more, but wait, Pakistan played against India thrice, got a prize of 75,000 USD $ which is roughly 64 Lakhs in INR, which is wow, it surely means that India helped their neighbor a lot and helped Sony Sports from suffering close to a dollar loss, which is remarkable.
This can be said that India won the hearts of patriots and business partners and eventually won the record 9th Asia Cup title, an unbelievable act by the powerful richest board and the Indian government. It somewhat really shows that even in the future, suppose there are many wars with Pakistan, the India vs Pakistan clash will continue with this no handshake controversy & no trophy collect gesture.

It is believed & expected that a grand welcome will be done for Suryakumar Yadav & his brigade for agreeing to the plan and winning the title. Suryakumar Yadav was happily grinning and made patriotic statements as he did his job to the fullest. The height of the incident was that Suryakumar Yadav and his team did a victory celebration without a trophy and clicked pics, and mocked Pakistan, which only time will tell whether it was ethically right or wrong; nevertheless, it’s a jubilation for a billion people, and with such a mindset, potentially no one can beat the Indian govt.
