Put into bat first, Sahibzada Farhan came out to bat with his new opening partner Fakhar Zaman. Hardik Pandya had ball in hand for India. Fakhar was livid with that decision. Saim Ayub came out to bat next.

Ayub got off the mark in the tournament and the match with a pull through deep square leg. Bumrah continued as Farhan pulled away through vacant deep square leg region for a boundary.
