Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled his heart out on Day 4 of the Test match in Darwin as he inspired Bangladesh to a historic, memorable 9-wicket in the first of two Tests at Darwin. Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed a crucial 65 in the Bangladesh first innings down the order as well as Bangladesh produced an all-round performance to beat Australia by 9 wickets inside 4 days to take a 1-0 lead in this 2-match series.
For Australia, it was a Test to forget for them as they were outplayed in all facets of the game. Bangladesh won each and every session of the Test match as the Aussies were found wanting what must be said. Yes, Josh Hazlewood got a 6-wicket haul while Cameron Green got a ton in the second innings, but Bangladesh were too good and deserve this win and 4th place in the WTC table 2025-27.
Hasan Mahmud’s 6-wicket haul skittled Australia for 198 in 53 overs

Chasing 57 for a historic win, Shadman Islam and Tanzid Hasan came out to open the batting for Bangladesh while Mitchell Starc had the ball in hand for Australia. The opening duo could muster just 4 runs for the first wicket before Tanzid fell for a 5-ball duck to Josh Hazlewood. Mominul Haque came out to bat next. Mominul and Shadman Islam got together and with a bit of luck applied themselves and got their rewards as they were a tad lucky as well.
The duo made sure there was no collapse for the Tigers and they proceeded to the target without any drama post the dismissal. Mominul was the aggressor while Shadman did his bit as well. The duo put on an unbroken 53-run stand for the second wicket with Shadman remaining unbeaten on 25 off 42 balls with 4 fours to his name while Mominul remained unbeaten on 30 off 39 balls with 2 fours to his name. Mominul hit the square cut through deep point for a boundary for the celebrations as Bangladesh were over the line. The target was achieved in 14.2 overs with 2 extras given by the fielding side.

What Lies Ahead
So, Bangladesh lead the series 1-0 with one Test remaining in the series. The next Test will take place from Saturday onwards i.e. from 22nd August 2026 from Great Barrier Reaf Arena in Mackay. Bangladesh will be looking to complete the clean sweep and win it 2-0. Or can Australia bounce back and level the series 1-1? We shall find that answer out when the second Test starts on Saturday.
