RCB vs KKR: Virat Kohli’s Fierce Ton Ruins KKR

Virat Kohli made a powerful comeback in IPL 2026 as Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Kolkata Knight Riders comfortably by 6 wickets. Coming into the match after scoring two ducks in his previous games, Virat Kohli was under pressure to deliver. Instead of playing cautiously, the RCB opener responded in the best possible way – with an unbeaten century that completely changed the game.

KKR batted first and posted 192/4 in 20 overs. Young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued his impressive season with a classy 71 off 46 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes. Finn Allen also provided quick runs during the power play, helping Kolkata score at a strong rate early in the innings. However, RCB bowlers controlled the death overs well and stopped KKR from crossing the 200-run mark.

Aggressive Start From Virat Kohli & Jacob Bethell

Chasing 193, RCB started with positive intent and Virat Kohli looked confident from the very first over. He attacked the fast bowlers early and ensured the required run rate never became a problem. Bengaluru reached 66/1 in the powerplay, putting KKR under pressure immediately. Virat Kohli completed his half-century in just 32 balls and continued dominating the bowlers throughout the innings.

Virat Kohli played a classic chase master innings while chasing 193 against KKR. He attacked Vaibhav Arora early in the powerplay and ensured RCB got quick boundaries from the start. His positive intent helped Bengaluru reach a strong score in the first six overs and kept the required run rate under control.

Virat Kohli also handled Sunil Narine smartly during the middle overs by rotating strike regularly and punishing loose deliveries. When KKR tried to create pressure, Kohli responded with timely boundaries and excellent running between the wickets. He later accelerated against the pacers in the death overs and finished the chase in dominant fashion with an unbeaten century.

The RCB star remained unbeaten on 105 off 60 balls, smashing 11 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate above 175. It was his 9th IPL century and one of his best knocks of the season, considering the pressure before the match.

KKR Bowlers Fail to Respond

KKR’s bowling attack struggled badly during the chase. Their pacers failed to control line and length in the power play, while the spinners could not create enough pressure later in the innings. Dropped chances and loose deliveries made things even tougher against an experienced batter like Kohli.

RCB also received useful support from the middle order, with important partnerships helping the team maintain momentum throughout the chase. Bengaluru eventually chased down the target with several balls remaining, turning the match into a comfortable win.

A Statement Knock Before Playoffs

This innings was more than just another century for Virat Kohli. After back-to-back ducks, many questions were being raised about his form and strike rate. But against KKR, he answered every criticism with a fearless and dominant performance.

The victory helped RCB strengthen their playoff chances and gave the team huge confidence before the final stage of IPL 2026. Most importantly, Kohli’s return to form is a massive boost for Bengaluru. In the end, it was a classic Virat Kohli chase — calm, aggressive, and completely match-winning.
