Shubman Gill shone with the bat while his deputy Rashid Khan shone with the ball as GT came to Jaipur and thrashed RR by 77 runs to move upwards to 2nd in the points table. GT were put into bat first by Yashasvi Jaiswal the stand-in captain and thanks to Shubman Gill‘s 84 and Sudharsan’s 55 in the 118-run first wicket stand that enabled the platform for GT to get to a massive 229/4 in 20 overs. Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia also provided the finishing kick.
Coming to defend the score of 229, GT rode on a 4-wicket haul from Rashid Khan and a 3-wicket haul from Jason Holder to skittle RR for 152 in 16.3 overs. Kagiso Rabada chipped in with 2 wickets while there was a quickfire 36 from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a fighting 38 from Ravindra Jadeja. But it was to no avail as RR were bowled out inside 17 overs and lost the contest by 77 runs to slip out of the top 4 for the time being.
Shubman Gill’s Masterful 84 powers GT to a massive 229/4 in 20 overs
Put into bat first by stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill came out to bat for GT while Jofra Archer had the ball in hand for RR. Archer set the tone for the night as he bowled loads of wides and no balls and gifted runs to the opposition. GT accepted gleefully and took full advantage of it. It was the Shubman Gill show and he was ably assisted by his opening partner Sai Sudharsan. The duo aced the power play. They scored 82 in the first 6 overs.
The duo did not stop there and took their partnership past 100 and beyond 10 overs. They put on 118 for the first wicket inside 11 overs when RR finally got a wicket with Yash Punja getting rid of Sai Sudharsan for 55 off 36 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes to his name. Keeper batter Jos Buttler came out to bat next. Buttler was off and running straightaway.

Gill continued his merry ways and completed his fifty and converted that into a significant score. The duo of Gill and Buttler put on 32 runs for the second wicket before Buttler fell for 13 off 10 balls with one four and one six to his name to Ravindra Jadeja.
Washington Sundar came out to bat next. Sundar started well and made a valuable contribution as well. Gill looked good as well. The duo added another crucial 35-run stand for the third wicket before the captain Gill fell for a magnificent 84 off 44 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes to his name to Brijesh Sharma. Jason Holder came out to bat next. Holder couldn’t get going but Sundar was providing the perfect role of a finisher. The duo added 20 runs for the 4th wicket before Holder was dismissed for 7 off 7 balls with one boundary to his name to Brijesh Sharma.

Rahul Tewatia came out to bat next. Tewatia provided the perfect finishing touches by striking a few lusty blows while Sundar did well as well. The duo added 24 runs in 11 balls unbeaten as the Gujarat Titans ended with 229/4 in 20 overs with Sundar unbeaten on 37 off 20 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes to his name while Tewatia remained unbeaten on 14 off 4 balls with 2 sixes to his name as GT ended with a massive 229/4 in 20 overs. 19 extras given by RR team.
It was a tough evening for the Rajasthan Royals. Brijesh Sharma finished with figures of 2/47 in 4 overs. Ravindra Jadeja finished with 1/34 in 4 overs. Yash Punja finished with 1/37 in 4 overs. Jofra Archer finished with 0/46 in 3 overs. Tushar Deshpande finished with 0/52 in 4 overs. Donovan Ferreira finished with 0/11 in 1 over. This meant that the target for RR was 230 runs in 20 overs.
Rashid Khan & Jason Holder bamboozle RR for 152 in 16.3 overs
Chasing a massive 230 for the win, stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal and impact player Vaibhav Sooryavanshi came out to bat for RR while Mohammed Siraj had the ball in hand for GT. Jaiswal took a single first ball. After that it was the Vaibhav Sooryavanshi show as he took the attack to the GT bowlers for the initial overs. The duo gave RR a fast start with Vaibhav scoring all the runs. Vaibhav showed fireworks for the first 3 overs.
The duo put on 38 runs inside 3 overs before Vaibhav was the first one to depart for 36 off 16 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes to his name to Mohammed Siraj. Keeper batter Dhruv Jurel came out to bat next. Jaiswal came on strike and did not last long. Just 2 runs were added to the score before Jaiswal fell for 3 off 4 balls to Kagiso Rabada. Shimron Hetmyer came out to bat next.
Hetmyer and Jurel tried to forge a partnership inside the power play and added 28 runs for the third wicket quickly before Hetmyer fell for 6 off 7 balls with one boundary to his name to Rabada as Jurel was doing bulk of the scoring in that partnership. Ravindra Jadeja came out to bat next inside the power play. The Royals scored 78 runs in the power play of 6 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.
The duo of Jurel and Jadeja tried to take the innings forward and put on 19 runs for the 4th wicket before Jurel fell for a quick 24 off 10 balls with one four and three sixes to his name to Rashid Khan who cleaned him up. Donovan Ferreira came out to bat next. Ferreira got off the mark with a boundary and then got out the very next ball as Rashid had two in the over getting rid of Ferreira for 4 off 2 balls with one four to his name. Shubham Dubey came out to bat next.

Dubey and Jadeja had some sort of a partnership and added 24 runs for the 6th wicket before Dubey fell for 15 off 14 balls with one four and one six to his name to Rashid Khan. Dasun Shanaka came out to bat next. Jadeja and Shanaka showed some resistance out there. They added 21 runs for the 7th wicket before Jadeja the set batter fell for a well-made 38 off 25 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes to his name to Rashid yet again. The batter wasted a DRS on that dismissal as well. Jofra Archer came out to bat next.
The duo of Shanaka and Archer could add only 5 runs to the tally before Archer fell for 5 off 6 balls with one four to his name to Jason Holder. Tushar Deshpande came out to bat next. Shanaka played a few shots as he added 10 runs with Deshpande and brought up the 150 for RR. The score reached 151 when Shanaka fell for 16 off 11 balls with 2 fours to his name to Jason Holder. Brijesh Sharma came out to bat next.

Just one run was added to the score after this before Deshpande was the last man to be dismissed for 1 off 3 balls to Holder. Brijesh remained unbeaten on 1 off 1 ball. 3 extras given by the fielding side as RR were bowled out for 152 in 16.3 overs.
For GT, Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/33 in 4 overs. Jason Holder complemented him well with his figures of 3/12 in 2.3 overs. Kagiso Rabada chipped in with 2/33 in 3 overs. Mohammed Siraj finished with 1/55 in 4 overs. Sai Kishore the Impact Player bowled an over for 8 runs. Washington Sundar finished with figures of 0/10 in 2 overs. So, GT thrashed RR by 77 runs to move to 2nd in the points table. Rashid Khan was awarded the Player of the Match award.

So, GT thrashed RR by 77 runs and move to 2nd in the points table while RR slipped out of the top 4 spot. GT will next play SRH while RR has a game after a week’s gap. We are set for Super Sunday double-header with important points up for grabs. First-up it’s CSK vs LSG in Chennai while RCB hosts MI in Raipur. Two mouth-watering games to entertain us on a Sunday.
