GT vs RCB: Jason Holder’s All-Round Show Sinks RCB

Jason Holder stood tall under pressure and dazzled under the lights in Ahmedabad as he shone with the ball and in the field before coming out to bat again. Jason Holder plucked out a stunner, picked up wickets and played an important innings as well. GT put RCB into bat first with Devdutt Padikkal scoring 40 and Virat Kohli 28 as the bowlers led by Arshad Khan and others chipped in as RCB were bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs after being 75/2 there.

In reply, GT had captain Shubman Gill scoring 43 off 18 balls alongside Jos Buttler’s 39 off 19 balls and cameos from Rahul Tewatia meant GT got over the line with more than 4 overs to spare as Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 3 wickets while Romario Shepherd finished with a couple of wickets to his name. So, GT wins by 4 wickets to solidify the 5th spot in the standings.

All-Round bowling display led by Arshad Khan restricts RCB to 155 in 19.2 overs 

Put into bat first, Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli came out to bat for RCB while Mohammed Siraj had the ball in hand for GT. Bethell hit the first boundary of the match off Siraj. Virat Kohli showed his class as he took on Kagiso Rabada and hit him for 5 fours in 6 balls to take 21 off the over. The duo could muster 34 runs for the first wicket inside 3 overs before Bethell fell for 5 off 5 balls with one four to his name to Siraj. Devdutt Padikkal came out to bat next.

Virat Kohli soon fell as just one run was added to the tally before the Indian great fell for 28 off 13 balls with 5 fours and one six to his name to Rabada, with the bowler having his revenge. Rajat Patidar, the captain, came out to bat next. The duo tried to counterattack and forge some sort of partnership. The power play score was 59/2 in 6 overs for RCB. The duo carried that on till the middle phase of the game.

They put on an important 44-run stand for the 3rd wicket before Patidar fell for 19 off 15 balls with 2 fours and one six to his name to Arshad Khan, with Jason Holder taking a blinder. Jitesh Sharma, the keeper-batter, came out to bat next. Jitesh came and went for 1 off 3 balls as Holder struck for the first time in the evening. Tim David came out to bat next. The duo of Padikkal and David put on 11 runs for the 5th wicket before David fell for 9 off 6 balls with one six to his name to Rashid Khan. Krunal Pandya came out to bat next.

The duo of Padikkal and Krunal added 5 runs for the 6th wicket before the left-hander Krunal departed for 4 off 4 balls with one boundary to his name to Arshad. Romario Shepherd came out to bat next. The last recognised batter had come out to bat now. Padikkal and Shepherd continued to fight for RCB as they added 30 runs for the 7th wicket before the set batter Padikkal fell for 40 off 24 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes to his name to Rashid Khan. Impact Player Venkatesh Iyer came out to bat next.

But Romario too fell in the next over as he scored 17 off 15 balls with 2 sixes to his name to Jason Holder. Bhuvneshwar Kumar came out to bat next. RCB were in deep trouble now, and the aim now was to bat 20 overs. Venkatesh and Bhuvneshwar added useful runs for their side. Bhuvneshwar was making a valuable contribution. The duo added 29 runs for the 9th wicket before Iyer was dismissed for 12 off 15 balls with one four to his name to Arshad Khan.

Josh Hazlewood came out to bat next and was run out on the first ball for a golden duck. There was a run-out to end the innings, which summed up RCB’s performance with the bat. Kumar remained unbeaten on 15 off 15 balls with 2 fours to his name. RCB have been bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs. 5 extras given by the fielding side.

GT bowlers bowled really well out there. Arshad Khan finished with 3/22 in 3.2 overs. Jason Holder finished with 2/29 in 4 overs. Rashid Khan finished with 2/19 in 4 overs. Mohammed Siraj finished with 1/38 in 4 overs, while Kagiso Rabada finished with 1/44 in 4 overs. This meant the GT needed to chase 156 runs to win this game.

Shubman Gill’s whirlwind innings in an all-round batting performance helped GT beat RCB

Chasing 156 for the win, Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill came out to bat for GT while Bhuvneshwar Kumar had the ball in hand for RCB. Gill was quick off the blocks while Sai played second fiddle initially. It was all Gill in the opening stand as Sai hardly got a strike. The duo put on 42 for the first wicket inside 3 overs before Sai fell for 6 off 5 balls with one four to his name to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Keeper batter Jos Buttler came out to bat next.

Both Buttler and Gill looked good and scored quickly. The duo could add 15 runs for the second wicket before Gill fell for 43 off 18 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes to his name to Bhuvneshwar. Washington Sundar came out to bat next. Buttler was looking fluent and dangerous and took the game to the opposition. The duo added 35 runs for the third wicket before Buttler fell for 39 off 19 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes to his name as he played onto a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery.

Shah Rukh Khan came out to bat next. Just 17 runs were added to the tally before Shahrukh fell for 8 off 8 balls with one four to his name to Romario Shepherd. Impact Player Rahul Tewatia came out to bat next. Just 2 runs were added to the tally before Sundar fell for 12 off 12 balls with one maximum to his name to Romario Shepherd. Jason Holder came out to bat next and can come and smash the bowlers of RCB. Holder got off the mark with the maximum and played really well out there.

Tewatia then scored the bulk of the runs as the Impact Player made an immediate impact on the side. The duo put on 30 runs for the 6th wicket before Holder fell for 12 off 10 balls with one six to his name to Suyash Sharma. Rashid Khan came out to bat next with 15 runs needed for the win. The duo added 17 runs off 12 balls and sealed the deal in 15.5 overs. Tewatia remained unbeaten on 27 off 17 balls with 4 fours to his name, while Rashid remained unbeaten on 7 off 6 with one four to his name. GT were 158/6 in 15.5 overs with 4 wickets in hand.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/28 in 4 overs. Romario Shepherd finished with 2/30 in 4 overs. Suyash Sharma finished with 1/44 in 3.5 overs. Josh Hazlewood was smashed for 56 runs in 4 overs. Just 4 bowlers used by RCB today. So, GT wins by 4 wickets with 25 balls to spare to stay in contention for IPL 2026 playoffs. Jason Holder was awarded the Player of the Match.

What Lies Ahead. 

So, GT wins an important game by 4 wickets with 25 balls to spare and stays in 5th place while RCB suffers their 3rd loss this season and is still in 2nd place. GT next faces Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on Sunday night, while RCB will be in action soon. Tomorrow night, we will have RR facing DC in Jaipur in a crucial clash.
