Pretoria Capitals climbed to the top of the points table with a comprehensive 53-run win over MI Cape Town who are once again rooted at the bottom of the points table. The Pretoria Capitals came out all guns firing and looked determined to win and they won with a bonus point as well which helped in climbing to the top of the points table. Put into bat first on a decent track, Pretoria Capitals posted 185/6 in 20 overs on the back of an all-round batting display led by Sherfane Rutherford who scored a half-century.

In defence of their target, Gideon Peters picked up 3 wickets and others chipped in as MI Cape Town never got going in the chase in Centurion. It was Reeza Hendricks who put in a lone effort batting at 3 and remained unbeaten on 68 off 50 balls and hit a flurry of boundaries towards the end. This brought the big man Andre Russell to the crease with 10 balls left and he got going straightaway and was quick off the blocks. At 89/7 in 15.5 overs, Kagiso Rabada came in to join Hendricks in the middle with the game all but gone from MI Cape Town. Hendricks switched gears in the last 4 overs while Rabada held one end up as the attempt from Hendricks was to avoid being beaten by a bonus point and reduce the margin of defeat as the game was gone by now. Hendricks played his shots. He completed his half-century and ended with a flurry hitting boundaries and sixes at will.
