During the 14th match of The Hundred Men’s 2025 between Northern Superchargers and Birmingham Phoenix played at Headingley, Harry Brook hit one of the most insane shots you will ever see on a cricket ground. It arrived in the 74th ball of the Superchargers’ innings. Tim Southee delivered a slower length ball on off-stump.Harry Brook first crouched and prepared to play a reverse hit. But at the last moment, he thought of a completely different plan. Instead, he scooped the ball over the wicketkeeper’s head for six.

What made the shot so incredible was the force behind it. Harry Brook fell over on contact, but the ball still sailed over the boundary easily. The Headingley crowd erupted in shock as the ball went over the stands.

Birmingham Phoenix won the toss and elected to field, but Northern Superchargers recorded the highest this year’s Hundred has seen,193/5 off their 100 balls. Zak Crawley provided the innings with a flying start, hitting Trent Boult for 6,4,4,4,4 in the last five balls of the powerplay. Liam Livingstone, though, sent Crawley back to the pavilion for 45. Dawid Malan then asserted himself and played authoritatively to score a deserved 58.

Pepper, though looked out of his colors, but he added some edges in an important 50-run partnership with Malan. Luke Wood took things back slightly for Phoenix with two wickets in two balls in his penultimate overs.However, Harry Brook’s late cameo turned the momentum right back in the Superchargers’ favour. His 14-ball 31, including that outrageous scoop six, gave the crowd the moment of the night and pushed the score to a massive total.

With the Headingley pitch in perfect batting condition and the outfield lightning quick, Birmingham Phoenix faced a huge chase under scoreboard pressure. They lost three early wickets, but Jacob Bethell (48) and Liam Livingstone (46) played fine knocks to stay in the hunt.

However, Adil Rashid scalped both the set batters, ensuring Superchargers’ a convincing victory by 37 runs as they restricted Phoenix at 157/9. For Phoenix, Matthew Potts was the pick of the bowler as he bagged three wickets. Tom Lawes, Jacob Duffy and Adil Rashid also picked up two wickets each.

Batting first, the Supercharges had a terrific start with David Malan and Zak Crawley hitting 58 and 45 runs, respectively. However, they still needed a strong finish, and Harry Brook came to the rescue.

Coming out to bat at no.4, Harry Brook had only one job, to hit as many runs as possible through quick boundaries. On the 74th ball, Brook produced a jaw-dropping moment of brilliance against Tim Southee with a stroke that left everyone stunned. Southee delivered a slower ball on a good length outside off, expecting a cautious response. Brook initially shaped for a reverse hit, crouching low in his stance.

But in a split second, he altered his plan, batting impulsively with a scoop above the wicketkeeper’s head. What made the shot even more outrageous was the sheer timing and power, as the ball sailed all the way for six. Brook lost his balance and tumbled after execution, but the crowd roared at the spectacle.

The scoop shot was made popular by former Sri Lankan cricketer Dilshan in the mid-2000s. While such shots are not uncommon, Brook’s audacity against a quality bowler like Southee surely raised a few eyebrows.That being said, after Harry Brook’s blitz, Superchargers finished with a total of 193 runs. In the chase, Birmingham flattered and fell short by 36 runs to hand a big win to Northern Superchargers. This shot made Stuart Broad go all the grounds hailing Harry Brook as the best batter in the English setup as of now even greater than Joe Root.
