RCB vs RR : Records Galore After RCB’s Thrilling Win Over RR

RCB tasted their first victory at their home ground this season and won the match by 11 runs against RR. Josh Hazlewood and Virat Kohli shine for the southpaws. RR bottles yet another chase from a winning position. Hatrick defeats for RR while chasing target in IPL 2025.

M Chinnaswamy’s curse ends

Before yesterday, RCB was facing a terrible streak of hat-trick losses at their home ground. That streak has ended now.  Virat Kohli, who struggled to score runs in the last three home games, smashed 70 runs off 42 balls and gave a blistering start, which helped the hosts to post a big total.

Along with him, local boy Devdutt Padikkal smashed 50 off 27 balls. Their partnership set a strong base for the finishers. Jitesh Sharma and Tim David played small cameos in the end to push the total beyond 200.

In bowling, Hazlewood grabbed the victory from the jaws of RR in the 19th over by giving just 1 run and picked 2 wickets. Overall, it’s a complete team performance by RCB and good signs for them as they have now started winning the home games as well.

32 nd 200 for RCB

RCB scored 205 runs against RR, and it is their 32nd 200-plus score in IPL history. CSK tops the list with 33 200-plus scores. This is their 25th 200-plus core while batting first, and they have defended it successfully 20 times. CSK tops in this list as well, 21 wins while defending 200-plus totals.

A battle to remember: Jofra Archer vs Virat Kohli

Jofra Archer dismissed Virat Kohli yesterday. This was the first time Virat Kohli has been dismissed by Archer in any format of the game. It took 7 years for Jofra Archer to take Kohli’s wicket.

Archer vs Kohli stats:

Test: Runs – 11, Balls -19, Out – 0

ODI: Runs – 12, Balls – 17, Out – 0

T20I – Runs – 56, Balls – 40, Out – 0

IPL – Runs – 47, Balls – 40, Out – 1

These two veterans haven’t faced each other much in Tests and ODIs, so it’s unfair to say Kohli dominated him in those formats. The upcoming Test series against England in June would probably give the answer for that. But, Virat Kohli had dominated him very well in T20s.

Virat Kohli bashed Jofra Archer in the 2023 season, when Archer came back to professional cricket after a long injury. He smashed Archer for 28 runs of 17 balls against him in the match where he bowled 4 overs and gave 33 runs. Virat scored more than 80% runs conceded by Archer on that day.
