GT vs DC: Kagiso Rabada Unavailability Update- Gujarat Titans Await Star Pacer’s Return

Kagiso Rabada’s injury update has become a major talking point for the Gujarat Titans (GT) as they continue their strong run in IPL 2025. Assistant coach Ashish Kapoor recently shared that Kagiso Rabada, who withdrew from the early part of the tournament due to personal reasons, remains unavailable. So far, GT has not announced a replacement for the South African pace spearhead.

DC against RR snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, the lethal speedster Mitchell Starc was spitting fire with his back to back 12 yorkers in the end. Since it’s a day game at Ahmedabad, there won’t be much dew. GT & DC have a strong Indian core unit in batting & bowling department as the clash of giants promises to be a nerve-wrecking one.

We are waiting for Kagiso Rabada- Ashish Kapoor

Ahead of their much-anticipated clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) on 19th April at Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill confirmed that Kagiso Rabada would miss the match, citing family commitments. However, Ashish Kapoor remains optimistic about Rabada’s return later in the season. Bought for Rs. 10.75 crore in the mega auction, Rabada’s inclusion was expected to bolster GT’s bowling attack.

“We picked Dasun Shanaka as the replacement for Glenn Phillips, but I don’t know about the replacement for Kagiso Rabada, that’s news to me. We are just waiting for him, he might just return. There is a chance that he might join, but he has got some family problem, for which he has gone,” Ashish Kapoor mentioned during a pre-match press conference.

“Once he is sorted out with that in time, he’ll be back. We don’t know when, and we’re just waiting as everyone else,” he further added.

Gujarat Titans Shine Despite Kagiso Rabada Injury Update

Despite Rabada’s absence, the Gujarat Titans have showcased impressive bowling performances. Mohammed Siraj has been leading the attack with consistent wicket-taking spells, ably supported by Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna. Their strong bowling unit has ensured GT’s dominance so far.

After playing six matches, the Gujarat Titans sit comfortably in second place in the IPL 2025 standings with four wins and two losses. DC on the other hand, are placed at the top of the points table with 5 wins from 6 matches, and a couple of more wins can take them closer to playoffs. Kagiso Rabada played only 2 matches in IPL 2025 and took 2 wickets before leaving for South Africa. It would be interesting to see whether Rabada immediately gets a chance in the playing 11 when he comes back to the squad as the tournament has started to peak.
