“Even today I was like, ‘Why are they giving me the award?’ I feel Noor bowled really well. With the new ball and when Noor and Jaddu bowled four-five overs together – these were the two phases where we did really well,” Dhoni said.

When asked if he remembers the last time winning player of the match award in IPL, Dhoni replied in the negative and was pleasantly surprised when told it was 2019 against DC at Chepauk.

“That’s long time back!” he said.

“It’s good to win a game. When you play a tournament like this, you want to win games. Unfortunately, the (earlier) matches didn’t go our way for whatever reasons. There can be lots of reasons. It’s good to have a win on our side. Gives confidence to the whole team and helps us improve in areas we want to improve,” he said.

MS Dhoni also expressed elation on finally snapping the winless streak in the ongoing 18th edition of the T20 tournament. In the fixture against LSG, MS Dhoni also became the first player to surpass 200 dismissals as a wicketkeeper in the IPL. Despite this win against Lucknow Super Giants, CSK remain at the bottom of the points table. The franchise will next square off against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 20, 2025.
