IPL 2025: 3 Best Bowling Performances By RR

Sohail Tanvir ( 14/6 vs CSK in 2008)

It was the inaugural season of the IPL 2008. CSK batted first at Jaipur.Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Sohail Tanvir shocked them by picking both the openers in the first over. He took the third wicket in his next over too.  CSK could never recover from that earlier collapse. They lost wickets in regular intervals and couldn’t build a partnership.

Tanvir picked up three more wickets in his second spell. He finished with the numbers of 4-14-6. This stood as the best bowling figure in IPL history for 11 long years. CSK are bowled out for just 109 runs. This is their lowest score against any team other than Mumbai Indians.  RR chased the target comfortably with 8 wickets in hand. RR later on went to beat the same team in the finals to win their first and only IPL trophy.

James Faulkner fifer vs SRH

2013 IPL was the best season for James Faulkner. He was among the top wicket-takers list and was competing for the purple cap. He faced SRH in a league game at Hyderabad. SRH batted first and were restricted to 136 runs in 20 overs. The courtesy is James Faulkner’s fifer. He gave just 16 runs in his 4 overs and picked 5 wickets. This was his best figures in IPL. But sadly he couldn’t be in the winning side as RR lost the match 23 runs.

The SRH bowling line-up was so “goated” that they can defend any total. Faulkner made a unique record on that day. He became the first and only player in the IPL history to take two fifers against the same opponent that too in the same season. He already picked a fifer( 4-20-5 ) in their previous encounter of that season.

Shreyas Gopal special vs RCB

This happened in 2019 where a match was abandoned due to rain but still what happened in that one over will be a lifetime cherishable moment for Shreyas Gopal. Rain came to the field before the players and played a long innings. The match was reduced to 5 overs. RCB started their innings and smashed 23 runs of the first over. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were on fire.

Steven Smith made a bold move by giving the over to a leg-spinner after that. Gopal bowled the second over and got smashed for 12 runs in his first three balls. He didn’t lose his nerves in pressure. He tossed the ball outside the off and kohli missed time it, Got caught at long on. He removed De Villiers in the next ball as well. The same tossed-up delivery, but this time ABD got caught at covers. Now Shreyas got 2 in 2 and both are big fishes.

Marcus Stoinis came to face the hatrick ball. He had no other option but to slog. He went for it, but couldn’t time it well. He got caught at mid-off. Shreyas Iyer got his first hattrick. The match later on got abandoned but a Bangalore boy picking up his first hatrick at his home ground against the his home franchise would be life-time memory for him.
