IPL is a platform that allows many youngsters to showcase their talent and it gives them a chance to represent their country. Youngsters are now more prepared before coming to IPL to play domestic cricket, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, etc. but they get immense pleasure when they get to play with big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, etc.
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two teams who have won maximum IPL titles. These teams have produced many youngsters and now they are performing well at international level.
Matheesha Pathirana speaks about IPL and CSK
Matheesha Pathirana debuted for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2023 and his contribution was simply great despite it being his first season. In 2023 Chennai Super Kings became champions for the fifth time. The first time when this player appeared in IPL his resemblance was like Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga his slingy action was world-famous during the 2000s. Everyone started comparing Matheesha Pathirana with him but being a youngster he developed himself gradually and his luck supported him that he got to play under MS Dhoni who is an inspiration for millions and everyone feels to play under his leadership. Matheesha Pathirana said:
“After my under-19s, I was not in any squads in Sri Lanka. But since my debut for CSK, I got those chances and got selected for Sri Lanka’s main team. Playing for CSK is a gift from god for me. Until I played for CSK, not many knew me. Sharing the dressing room with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very special for youngsters like me, especially coming from Sri Lanka,” said Pathirana.
Youngsters have understood the value of IPL as it’s world famous and many players participate in this league to regain their t20 form as it helps them further in international cricket too.
