Josh Hazlewood lauds Rohit Sharma

Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first which turned out to be in favor of India, especially since skipper Rohit Sharma felt like the conditions were suiting him and he took every bowler on charge starting with Mitchell Starc smashed 29 runs in an over which changed the scenario completely. Rohit Sharma scored 92 runs in 41 balls and he scored his fifty within 19 balls fastest fifty of this World Cup. Ace pacer Josh Hazlewood was the only economical bowler rest of the bowlers went expensive. While having a word with the press, Josh Hazlewood lauded Rohit Sharma for his vintage innings. He said:

“Yeah, I’ve seen Rohit do that a few times now. Yeah, he’s a world-class player, so if you’re a bit off your game that can happen. It just looked like he targeted that short, the boundary with the wind there for a while, and then we probably reacted, and then he hit a few on the other side as well so he’s a class act and you expect him to do that a couple of times through a tournament,” Hazlewood said in the post-match press conference.

Yeah, I thought the wicket was – a pretty good wicket it was probably a 190-par score and yeah, they got the other side of it and we went underneath so I thought the chase was well on target for quite a lot of the time there and probably till Kuldeep and Jasprit, their eight overs, probably proved the difference again as they usually do,” Hazlewood added.

Australia have been knocked out of the World Cup and their campaign ends here.
