ICC T20 World Cup 2024: “I See It As A Slightly Easy Pool” – Aakash Chopra Picks His Semi-Finalists From India’s 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 Group

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage will commence on the 19th of June and it’s going to be even more thrilling and exciting. India is in group 1 with Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Australia. While in Group 2 USA, WEST Indies, South Africa, and England.

India will face first Afghanistan later Bangladesh then Australia accordingly. India will play in three different venues which will be quite hectic as they will travel and have just one day gap between two games.

Aakash Chopra predicts his semi-finalists

India will kickstart their Super 8 campaign on 20th June and will try to dominate the Super 8 so that they can qualify for the Semi-finals. India played their last match against the USA on June 12 and the next match was washed out due to rain against Canada. So it will be a fresh start for India and maybe we can see some changes in the team as West Indies have more spin-friendly wickets so the addition of extra spinners might see. Former Indian batter now turned commentator Aakash Chopra predicts his Semi-finalists, since Aakash Chopra feels India’s Super 8 group is quite simple and easy to predict the two semis so according to him India and Australia will be the two semi-finalists from Group 1. While speaking on his YouTube channel he said:

“I see it as a slightly easy pool. What could be the challenge against Afghanistan? If this match had been in Guyana, which it’s not, it would have been an even contest because it would have been a spin-to-win game. The match is in Barbados and since the pitch will be flat, India will go in with an upper hand. The flatter the pitch, the more you will keep moving away from Afghanistan in terms of quality,” he explained

“Bangladesh is a team that always troubles but this Bangladesh team is playing okay cricket. They have qualified for sure but are they playing the best cricket possible? The captain hasn’t scored runs and Shakib Al Hasan hasn’t scored runs apart from one match. That much confidence hasn’t been seen in any other batter,” Chopra observed.

Further, he also stated that India and Australia will face on June 29 in Guyana his bold prediction might be correct and if it happens it will be their third meeting in the ICC finals. Aakash Chopra said:

“Then there is Australia, which is a title-contender team, there is no doubt about that because the team is very good. They have depth in batting and variety in bowling. This team is going to give a contest on the 24th and this could be the precursor to the symphony. India and Australia might face off in the final once again,” he said.

“So which two teams do I feel will progress from this group? One I am saying India should progress and then they will play their semi-final in Guyana. There are more chances of that match also going in our favor. I am going towards Australia as the second team. I feel these two teams will qualify,” Chopra stated.

Let’s hope India will break the jinx and win the ICC trophy after 12 years. The Super 8 challenge won’t be easy as Afghanistan and Australia will be tough challenges.
