Mohammed Shami who recently played his 100th First class match at the Duleep Trophy 2026 Finals was instrumental in East Zone’s title triumph where the 36-year old pacer bowling in the only innings by East zone took 2 wickets for 42 runs in 16 overs.During his bowling spell, Mohammed Shami showcased fine display of reverse swing the art he has mastered over the years of experience. Speaking on his experience and what keeps him motivated to go even at the age of 36 , Mohammed Shami explains his meaning of an Indian cap or jersey which could be an inspiration to many. He said :
“I always say this: you play for the badge. When you wear that crest on your chest, the level of cricket doesn’t matter. If you play for the badge, that hunger will naturally show,” Shami said following the final.
“Your willingness to fight only grows when you play with that pride. My mindset is simple: whichever level I get an opportunity to play, I want to make it count and fulfill my responsibility towards the team.”
Most important crux of the effort taken by Mohammed Shami even at this age , he concluded by saying that even at this age the urge he has to bowl and learn new things is the only way that keeps him going . He said :
