KKR vs LSG: Mukul Choudhary’s Dynamic Knock Floors KKR

Mukul Choudhary showed yesterday why IPL is called the tournament where talent meets opportunity. With the chips down and the team under pressure, Mukul Choudhary showed up and was the shining light for the LSG team as he came out of the syllabus to knock KKR out at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The biggest highlight was his calm demeanour under pressure and how he believed in himself. It was his self-belief that carried him through this chase single-handedly and gave his side the win in the end.

Mukul Choudhary came in when half the side was shut out for 104, and then he saw Ayush Badoni, the form player, perish for 54 and Shami a few balls later as the score was 128/7 in 16 overs. But then, Mukul, with nothing to lose, put on a show for the ages and wilted KKR with audacious striking and the ball going over the fence with ease. He farmed the strike, understood the situation and got his side the win in the end.

Mukul Choudhary: Humble Background

Mukul Choudhary is a young Indian cricketer born on 6th August 2004. He is a 21-year-old man hailing from Rajasthan. He plays for the Rajasthan domestic team in First-Class cricket. His role includes wicket-keeping and can don the gloves, but his main role is being an aggressive middle or lower-order batter. He is known as a finisher in T20 cricket with a high strike rate close to 180. He can also contribute as a keeper. He initially started as a bowler, but then switched roles due to his father’s influence. His father has played a big role in his career.

He plays for Rajasthan, Mukul, and there is one match that comes in our minds that really showed Mukul’s talent. It was a game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season where Mumbai faced Rajasthan. Rajasthan were absolutely dead and buried and was out of the game till Mukul came to the crease. Mukul single-handedly played his part and kept his side in the contest even as Mumbai were ahead in the game. He brought the equation down to 25 runs off the last 6 balls. Some lusty blows came from his bat, and then it was 5 needed off 1 ball.

Mukul became the toast of the town, a hero as he struck a last-ball maximum to snatch the game away from Mumbai and give the win to Rajasthan and from there the scouts took notice, and he was brought by LSG for Rs. 2.6 crore. He has strong performances in domestic T20 tournaments, and he is quickly rising as one of India’s exciting young talents.

Mukul Choudhary’s Blitz Stuns KKR

It was a redemption story for Mukul Choudhary, as in the previous game against SRH, he came to bat alongside captain Rishabh Pant and missed out on three full tosses, and he was really frustrated about it, seeing his body language. This is Mukul’s first IPL appearance. But all that was about to change for the youngster in this game against KKR in Kolkata, in what was a massive run chase. Mukul bats down the order, and so his turn came late as well.

Mukul came out to bat at 104/5 with LSG in more than just being in a spot of bother. Thereafter, he saw the in-batter Ayush Badoni being dismissed for 54 and then Shami as well. At 128/7 in 16 overs, all hopes were gone for LSG and KKR were set for their first win this season. Everyone lost hope except Mukul, and destiny had other plans for him, which happened in this game.

From the start of the 17th over, it was the Mukul Choudhary show. He realised he had the tail to bat with, and he is the only one who can strike it big. So, he farmed the strike and took matters into his own hands to take his side single-handedly past the finishing line. From 54 off 24 balls, he struck some lusty blows to bring the equation down to 30 off 12 balls.

Then he struck two sixes and a boundary to bring the equation down to 14 off 6 balls, and then held his nerve to hit two sixes in the last over when it was required and got a bye to give his side a massive win and important two points. But Mukul has etched his name in history and showed his class in the end to get the win. To have so much composure at this young age is commendable for him, and IPL unearths new talent, and Mukul is the latest one to join the list.

What Mukul does in the coming games will be interesting to see for all of us.
