ICC T20 WC 2026: India Rocked By Netherlands In Early Exchanges.

In a Group A clash in Ahmedabad, Team India are being tested severely by the Netherlands as they have managed to take Indian wickets to put them under some pressure. Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bat first and they lost Abhishek Sharma for another duck and Ishan Kishan a bit later on. India trying to fight back but the Dutch showing why they are a dangerous side to deal with.

India lose both their openers inside the powerplay. 

Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan came out to bat for India while Aryan Dutt had ball in hand for Netherlands. Dutt struck for his side as he dismissed Abhishek for yet another duck. The ball was a good length delivery and an arm ball that drifted in with the angle. Abhishek looked to pull and missed as the ball cannoned into the leg stump. Tilak Varma came out to bat and got off the mark with a triple through covers.

Logan van Beek came to bowl the second over as Tilak launched him down the ground for the maximum. Ishan then flicked it away to deep backward square leg for a boundary. Kishan heaved it to deep midwicket for a triple. Dutt continued as Tilak smacked it down the ground for a boundary to mid-on. Colin Ackermann came into the attack next. Ishan took him on and went inside out over extra covers for the maximum. Tilak again swiped hard and played the sweep past the keeper for a boundary.

Aryan continued as Ishan rocked back and pulled it to deep midwicket for a boundary. Dutt hit back and got rid of Ishan Kishan for 18 off 7 balls with 2 fours and one six to his name. Aryan bowled a good length on the off-stump an arm ball. Ishan went for the swipe but missed it. He got hit on the thigh pad and the ball bounced and hit the elbow before rolling back to hit the stumps. He tried to hut the ball away from the stumps with his bat but didn’t have the time to save himself.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat next. He got off the mark as Tilak flicked it away to the midwicket region for a boundary. Kyle Klein came onto bowl for the last over of powerplay. Surya leaned into the drive through covers for a boundary. The 50 came up for India in 5.3 overs. India reached 51/2 in 6 overs of powerplay with Tilak unbeaten on 26 off 20 balls while Surya was unbeaten on 7 off 6 balls. We also paused for the Drinks Break.

Tilak Varma falls as Netherlands puts the pressure on India. 

Colin Ackermann came back post the powerplay. He bowled a good over. Bas de Leede came into the attack next. He too kept things tight. Logan van Beek came into the attack as Surya got a lifeline as Logan van Beek was the unlucky bowler when batting on 13 as Michael Levitt put down the tough catch. Surya got an outside edge that flew between the keeper and short third fielder for a boundary.

Logan got the wicket as he dismissed Tilak Varma for 31 off 27 balls with 3 fours and one six to his name. Logan bowled full and outside the off-stump the slower one. Varma looked to go big down the ground and mistimed it and spliced it to the right of long-off. Roelof ran to his right and took the catch with a dive. Shivam Dube came out to bat next.

Kyle Klein came to bowl the 10th over. He bowled a miserly over as India crawled to 74/3 in 10 overs with Surya unbeaten on 22 off 20 balls and Dube unbeaten on 2 off 3 balls.

What Lies Ahead. 

India are up against it now and in a spot of bother. The Dutch are bossing this game. India needs to get out of this mess and post a good total or else a monumental upset is on the cards. Can India recover from this tricky situation? Only time will tell. Let’s see if India gets to 160+ from here.
