India had a wonderful afternoon session, which asserted its dominance over the West Indies. Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up a ton and was quite ruthless from the very first ball of the afternoon session. Yashasvi Jaiswal was intrepid in his shot selection as he, along with B Sai Sudharsan, pummelled the West Indies, and India’s score was 220 in 58 overs as the Men in Blue started in complete ascendancy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal sets the tone in the afternoon session
Jayden Seales & Roston Chase were bowling in tandem post morning session. There was a shift of intent from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was very audacious in his shot selection. Jomel Warrican & Khary Pierre immediately started to bowl from different ends as Roston Chase & Jayden Seales bowled only 5 overs combinedly post morning session, which was a surprise move by the skipper Roston Chase

Jomel Warrican & Khary Pierre weren’t able to pose any threat despite the surface being quite dry. The first hour of the afternoon session yielded 81 runs in 17 overs as there was a swift strokeplay batting display by both B Sai Sudharsan & Yashasvi Jaiswal. The game was starting to slip away from the West Indies as India’s score was 175-1 in 45 overs, and runs were quickly starting to flow, and the scoreboard was ticking.
Yashasvi Jaiswal hits a barnstorming ton
Yashasvi Jaiswal was toying with the West Indies’ bowling unit just like he did against England in the 2024 home series. Yashasvi Jaiswal was in a no-mercy mode; whether it was a fast bowler or spinner, he took him for cleaners. In the 51st over, Yashasvi Jaiswal got to his three-digit score and struck his 7th Test ton. Yashasvi looked like a warrior who was on a mission to decimate the West Indies all around the park.

B Sai Sudharsan, on the other hand, was delighted who get to his half-century. There was some serious, brutal hitting as well as good awareness by both B Sai Sudharsan & Yashasvi Jaiswal. West Indies’ bowlers got the hammering, which was quite unexpected given their performance in the morning session. India’s score was 220-1 in 58 overs, and they completely changed the complexion of the match
What lies ahead for India & West Indies in the evening session
India is truly ahead in the match. B Sai Sudharsan would be eager to get to the 3-figure mark, as his temperament was quite laudable. Yashasvi Jaiswal was on a rampage against a weak West Indies side, which didn’t have multiple plans to counter the ultra batting display of Yashasvi Jaiswal & B Sai Sudharsan, who scored 126 runs in 30 overs and completely dominated the terms.
West Indies, on the other hand, would be crestfallen as they have to do the hard yards to make a comeback in the match. It was quite evident that the spinners failed to create any attention for the batters. The second new ball is still 22 overs ahead. If the West Indies don’t take early wickets in the first hour of the evening session, then expect India to get a huge score in excess of 500.
Let’s see how the evening session pans out for both teams. As of now, it looks like India will continue its hegemony over the West Indies unless something drastic happens in the evening session. Indian fans are more than delighted, given how Yashasvi Jaiswal is back to his absolute best and now has a chance to notch up a score in excess of 200 runs.
