DC vs KKR: DC Danced, KKR Finished The Song

On April 29, 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 14 runs in a close and important IPL 2025 match. DC won the toss and chose to bowl first. KKR started well with quick runs from Gurbaz, Sunil Narine, and Ajinkya Rahane.

Although they lost a few wickets in the middle, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh helped steady the innings, and Andre Russell hit some big shots at the end. KKR finished with 204 runs. Mitchell Starc bowled a great final over, taking two wickets and stopping KKR from going past 210.

In the second innings, DC lost early wickets. Abishek Porel and Karun Nair got out quickly, and although KL Rahul and Axar Patel tried to build the innings, it was Faf du Plessis who stayed at the crease and kept the hopes alive. Let’s look at the narration of the match.

DC win the flip, KKR ready to script

Axar walked up, flipped the coin high,
It spun and danced beneath the sky.
DC won and made their call—
“We’ll chase it down,” he told them all.

The Knight Riders came out in style,
Ready to bat and fight a while.
Gurbaz and Narine were off to a strong start,
Rahane and Raghu played their part.
Shreyas Iyer, calm and composed,
Venkatesh Iyer, his power imposed.

Rinku Singh, with Russell to follow,
Powell joined in, no time to wallow.
Anukul Roy’s bowling was sharp and precise,
Varun and Vaibhav did their part nice.
Harshit Rana finished his spell,
The KKR team did really well.

Then came Delhi, ready to chase,
Hoping to win in this exciting race.
Porel kept the gloves, Faf led the way,
Karun and Rahul were set to play.
Axar, the captain, calm and bright,
Stubbs and Nigam ready for the fight.
Ashutosh and Starc in the game,
Chameera’s pace was hard to tame.
Kuldeep and Mukesh aimed to bowl tight
A strong team, ready to fight.

204 reasons to cheer — KKR light up the night purple

Gurbaz and Narine took the stage,
Facing Starc, fierce and full of rage.
Four off the bat, sweetly timed,
Narine’s six—one-handed and primed.

The crowd was loud, the hits came fast,
But Starc struck first, his spell would last.
Porel behind, sharp with the gloves,
Took the nick, and down went the doves.

Rahane stepped up, graceful and clean,
But Axar struck—he split the scene.
Narine tried to swing some more,
Till Vipraj’s ball evened the score.

Venkatesh came, but couldn’t stay,
Axar again, made him pay.
Raghuvanshi played with elegant touch,
But Karun’s catch proved just too much.

Rinku Singh began to fire,
Boundaries rained, the crowd climbed higher.
But Vipraj struck again with grace,
Starc’s sharp hands ended Rinku’s race.

Russell came, the power king,
But a run-out clip made the stumps ring.
Powell swung, a four to cheer,
Then Starc returned—his end was near.

Anukul in, but didn’t last,
Chameera’s dive—a catch so fast!
Dot ball pressure, and Roy was gone,
KKR’s innings was nearly done.

204 they put on board,
Nine wickets down, a mighty score.
The boundaries flew, the bowlers toiled,
DC knew—they’d be spoiled!

A Chase That Slipped Away

205 to chase, the night was lit,
Porel began with a boundary hit.
Miss-hit next, but he stood his ground,
Faf and Karun made runs abound.

The crowd roared loud, the flags flew high,
But Nair fell – a hopeful sigh.
Vaibhav struck, the umpire swayed,
And pressure games Chakravarthy played.

A mix-up run, a throw so neat,
Rahul’s knock met a swift defeat.
Then Axar came, down the ground so clean,
Boundaries came like a dream scene.

Faf stood tall, his fifty bold,
But Narine spun tales of gold.
Axar caught, Stubbs bowled through,
The chase looked dim, the hope too few.

Then Faf fell too, to Rinku’s grace,
And silence swept through DC’s chase.
Ashutosh tried but couldn’t stay,
Varun cleared the way.

A fight from Vipraj, brave and true,
But Russell sealed it – what a view!
From hopes so high to near despair,
KKR rose with flair and care.

190 they stood, hearts worn and dry,
Yet cricket’s thrill – it never lies.
A match to feel, to lose, to learn,
For every rise, there’s a turn.
