SRH vs MI: “Rohit Sharma Made My Job Easier”- Suryakumar Yadav Reflects On Run Chase Against SRH

MI’s Suryakumar Yadav, who has been super consistent in the IPL this season without really making an almighty splash, now has 373 runs after scoring 40 not out in 19 balls against SRH. Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t had a single proper failure this season: 29, 48, 27*, 67, 28, 40, 26, 68* and 40*. That makes Suryakumar Yadav the new No. 3 on the Orange cap  table.

Pacers Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar reduced the hosts to 35/5 in the first innings before Heinrich Klaasen’s 71 (44) and Abhinav Manohar’s 43 (37) helped them reach 143/8. In reply, opener Rohit Sharma’s clinical 70 (46) and Suryakumar’s unbeaten 40 (19) made light work of the chase.

Suryakumar Yadav continued his imperious form with the bat as Mumbai Indians registered a clinical 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. The MI star batter scored an unbeaten 40 off just 19 balls and struck 5 fours and 2 sixes to make it a cakewalk for his team as the five-time champions chased down the target with 26 balls to spare.

After a rusty start to the season, Suryakumar Yadav has picked up the form in the last couple of matches and now jumped to third spot in the race for the Orange Cap with 373 runs in 9 matches at an average of 62.17. He dedicated the win over Sunrisers Hyderabad to his wife, Devisha Shetty, who flew from Mumbai to cheer for him and the team.

Senior Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav said the team had to win’ because his wife, Devisha Shetty, flew in to Hyderabad to watch the team play against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). MI beat SRH by seven wickets to seal their fourth consecutive win of the season. Shetty was seen in the stands a couple of times.

“She has flown down from Mumbai, so what more do I need?” Suryakumar said after the match.

“She was here, so we had to win. I think it was really important to come out positive as we were playing good cricket and had to continue the momentum, winning four games on the trot is a great feeling,”

Rohit Sharma scoring runs is a really great sign for the team- Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar Yadav was clear with his thoughts when talking about Mumbai’s fourth win on a trot on Wednesday.

“I think it was really important to come out positive as we were playing good cricket and had to continue the momentum, winning four games on the trot is a great feeling,” he added.

Suryakumar Yadav also credited Rohit for making his job a lot easier when he came out to bat as the duo shared a 53-run stand in 5.2 overs for the third wicket. MI’s score was 77-2 in 9.2 overs when Suryakumar Yadav & Rohit Sharma were at the crease and needed another 67 runs to win the match

“He made my job really easier, I just had to bat with good tempo, and him scoring runs is a really great sign for the team…” Suryakumar said, before adding about his favorite sweep shot.

“You keep practising these sweeps in the nets, I want to continue that in the game, and I’m really happy with it. It’s less risk, high reward.”

This was Suryakumar Yadav’s second unbeaten knock in a win after his brilliant 68 against Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians have bounced back after a rusty start and moved to the third spot on the points table with five wins in nine matches.
