DC vs MI: MI’s Stunning Victory Over DC Breaks A Lot Of Records

MI registered their second win of the season in style against the table toppers DC in their first game at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. MI though, have won the thrilling contest by 12 runs, but it was a nerve-wrecking game for the fans. Let’s look at the records that were made.

MI’s streak of defending 200+ scores

MI are known for their bowling attack and have defended many low totals successfully. They won 2 IPL finals in 2017 and 2019 by just 1 run while defending low totals. they also have a great record in defending high totals as well.

They have never lost a match while defending 200+ total. they have 15 out of 15. Yesterday, DC almost came near to break the streak, But MI came back in the match with their brilliance on the field.

Tilak Varma’s efforts finally ended up in wthe inning cause

Tilak Varma scored his 8th IPL fifty (*59 runs in 33 balls and hit 6 fours and 3 sixes) yesterday. MI lost the match in all his 7 half-centuries before. For the First time, Tilak Varma’s fifty ended up in a winning cause. In all those previous occasions, he had helped his team from a batting collapse and helped them post a decent total on board.

Karun Nair on Fire

Karun Nair got an opportunity in the playing eleven yesterday as Faf Du Plessis got injured in the previous match. He is coming from a fantastic domestic season, scored tons of runs there and carried his form to IPL as well.

Jake Fraser-McGurk got out in the first ball, and Karun Nair came into the crease. He started playing aggressively and put MI bowlers on the backfoot. He faced 10 balls of Jasprit Bumrah inside the powerplay and scored 30 runs.

He registered his fastest IPL fifty in just 22 balls. he scored a brilliant knock of 89 runs from just 40 balls, Got dismissed by a stunning delivery from Santner. MI had no chance in the match until he was there in the middle. His wicket was the turning point of the match.

MI bowled out DC for 193 runs in 19 overs. They have already bowled out KKR 116 runs previously in this season. They hold the record of bowling out the opponents for the most number of times in IPL history ( 37 times ).
