GT climbs to the top of the table after a dominant 58-run win against RR. They outplayed their neighbouring state in every department.GT‘s dashing opener, Sai Sudarshan, is knocking on the doors of the Indian selectors with his consistency. RR was humbled after two back-to-back wins.
Sai Sudharsan again
Sai Sudarshan has been a gem of a player this season so far. He smashed his 3rd 50 of the season in 5 matches. In the era of blind slogging and power hitting, Sai Sudharsan believes in his timing and takes the game deep with calculated risks. This approach makes the bowlers work hard to get their wicket.
Sudharsan, along with Shubman Gill at the top brings stability in the initial overs and sets the stage for the middle order batters to take on the game. He scored a brilliant knock of 82 off 53 balls, which set the base for other batters to go hard and reach a big total at the end.
Sudharsan’s presence at the other end gave confidence to players like Sharukh Khan and Rutherford to go for big shots. If Sai Sudharsan maintains this consistency, he will be wearing the Indian jersey very soon in multiple formats.
Rashid Khan back to form
Rashid Khan slowly regaining his form in bowling is a great sign for GT going into the tournament. He was in a rough phase in the first four matches, with only one wicket. Today he got the confidence back by removing Dhruv Jurel in his first over. he also got the wicket of Shubam Dubey later.
He finished his spell with 4-37-2 & taking wickets again is a positive sign for GT and a dangerous sign for opponents in the upcoming matches. Once he gets his rhythm back, he will eat the batters in the crease.
Shah Rukh Khan cameo
Along with Rashid Khan, GT batter Sharukh Khan also showed a glimpse of what he is capable of. He scored a quick cameo of 36 runs from 20 balls, which helped to lift the momentum after Buttler’s wicket. GT management trusted him and retained him as an uncapped player. Now he has started justifying their decision to back him.
