Mohammed Siraj has been outstanding for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025, and the franchise is full of praise for the pacer. Despite a few inconsistent performances, GT’s Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki, has strongly backed Siraj, highlighting the bowler’s hard work and solid bond with head coach Ashish Nehra.
Siraj’s recent spell of 3/19 against his former team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, marked a significant performance, placing him as the second-best bowler for GT this season with five wickets so far.
Mohammed Siraj’s Role at GT Remains Consistent
Solanki clarified that Siraj’s role in the team has not changed drastically, but the results are visible because of his dedication and the right mentorship.
“(It has been) exactly the role he’s been playing, to be honest with you. He’s a fine bowler,” said Solanki during the pre-match press conference ahead of their clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Solanki further added, “Sometimes we’re very quick to judge one or two performances but he has been exceptional certainly since he has joined us.”
Impact of Ashish Nehra on Mohammed Siraj’s Performance
A key part of Siraj’s success has been his strong connection with Ashish Nehra. Solanki pointed out how the bond has been helping the bowler elevate his game.
“He obviously has a very good relationship with Ashish and I think that you’re seeing the fruits of his hard work and the work he’s doing with Ashish, the conversations he’s having with Ashish,” Solanki stated.
“You’re seeing the fruits of that play out in the games so far. He has been exceptional is what I’ll say,” he added.
Confidence Building with Coaching Support
While Solanki did not reveal the details of Nehra’s chats with Siraj, he acknowledged Nehra’s talent in boosting players’ confidence.
“Well look, that’s between a coach and a player but generally a coach’s job is to instil confidence in players. Ashish has that ability in abundance,” he said.
“You’ve sort of seen that with other players that have been part of GT. He certainly instills confidence in players and that’s exactly what is transpiring with Siraj,” Solanki added.
Gujarat Titans Stay Focused Ahead of SRH Clash
Speaking about their next opponents, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Solanki warned against underestimating them despite their slump.
“You can sometimes fall into the trap of what’s gone on previously. We’re really minded of Sunrisers being a very capable and strong team with match winners throughout their line-up,” he said.
