KKR vs SRH: KKR Overpower SRH & Break Records

KKR has beaten SRH convincingly by 80 runs in yesterday’s encounter. SRH has been in terrific form since last season, but they couldn’t replicate it. Against the defending champions, they somehow choke the game against them every time.

KKR’s mighty dominance against SRH

Since last year, SRH has changed their approach. They have converted into a batting powerhouse from being the team with the best bowling lineup in the past. They dominated last year’s point table by beating every team, but one team was a nightmare for them: KKR.

Unfortunately, they had to face KKR in the knockouts two times and lost both times, including the final. KKR has beaten them in the last 5 consecutive encounters since 2023. Overall, these two teams have faced 29 times, and KKR has won 20 times and SRH has won only 9 times. This clearly shows KKR’s dominance against them.

After beating SRH yesterday, KKR have become the first team in IPL history to have 20 wins against 3 teams.

SRH topsy-turvy Batting Approach

SRH’s batting approach has been the talk of the town this season. Every batter is going for shots irrespective of the situation. This formula succeeds for them when their top order clicks. But when they fail to score, that affects the scoreboard very badly.

It succeeded when the top order clicked in the first match, as Ishan Kishan scored a century and SRH posted 286 in that match. But when the top order is not performing for the past 3 matches, their middle order is not putting an effort to stay in the crease and going for big shot in every ball and throwing away their wickets.

Their scores in the next 3 matches are 190, 163, and 120. It’s decreasing in every match. the same thing happened with England when they were too aggressive with their bazball approach. They tasted success initially with that approach, but it backfired badly when they started overdoing it.

Yesterday, in the press meet after the match, even Venkatesh Iyer was talking about the same issue. Venkatesh Iyer told us that we don’t want to be a team that scores 250 on their day and bowls out for 70 on a bad day, Aggressive cricket is not just blind slogging, It’s about understanding the conditions. Venkatesh Iyer’s statement looked like a dig at the SRH approach.

The Opponent teams have found the loophole in SRH batting that if they manage to get the top order early, they seal the match there itself. LSG clearly exposed what should be the bowling plan to restrict this dangerous SRH batting line-up.

If you mix up the variations in every ball, they are struggling to score, and if you stop the boundary fora  few deliveries, they will lose their temper and go for the big shot, which creates the chance for a wicket. LSG started it, and the other teams are following it. Yesterday, they lost their last 4 wickets for just 8 runs.

But still SRH seemed to be very confident in this approach because when it’s their day opponent don’t have a chance against them. So they are gonna back their plan, and let’s see how it is gonna affect them in the upcoming matches.
