RCB’s home ground curse
Home ground is a main asset for the IPL teams. They play seven out of fourteen matches there and it becomes crucial to win there. Teams pick their players in the auction to win in their home conditions. Teams who have done well in home ground have dominated the league.
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have been the two most successful IPL franchises because they dominate in their home. They pick players who could win matches in their home conditions. They have the highest winning percentage in home & their home ground is their fortress.
Mumbai Indians have won 52 out of 86 games at Wankhede and Chennai have won 51 out of 73 games at Chepauk.
But this is not the case for RCB. They have the lowest winning percentage in their home ground ( 43 wins in 92 games ). RCB’s home ground had been their hell. Chinnaswamy is a small ground and also a batting paradise which makes it difficult for any bowler to survive there.
RCB bowlers are often criticized for leaking runs but Chinnaswamy plays a crucial role in that. it affects their bowlers reputation and makes a good bowler look bad.
RCB started this season very well by two wins at Eden Gardens and Chepauk, but yesterday they weren’t able to continue their winning streak at their home ground. they played their first match at their home and faced a 8 wicket lose to Gujarat Titans.
Ex- RCBian Mohammed Siraj against RCB
Ex player performing well against his former team is not a new thing in IPL. we have seen few instances like Buttler against Mumbai Indians. But it happens many times with RCB like if a player is released by them and facing them again, he will make sure he is the reason for RCB’s loss on that day.
We have seen many players who have done this in the past, like KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Yuzvendra Chaha,l and Shivam Dube. Mohammed Siraj added his name to this list after his performance against his ex-team yesterday. Siraj bowled a terrific spell 4-19-3 & took the important wickets of Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal & Liam Livingstone.
Siraj was also awarded the player of the match award for his excellent spell.
