The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are gearing up for the Indian Premier (IPL) 2025. Their spirits are high, and their game faces on. But their preparations hit a roadblock at a massive speed. The defending champions would be without their premier speedster Umran Malik which is a huge blow.
Umran Malik injury
Bump that threatened to mess up their entire campaign. KKR’s speedy bowler, Umarn Malik, suffered an injury, leaving the team shocked. Make the 25-year-old an exceptionally skilled and talented fast bowler. The news hit the KKR team hard. Umaran Mailk is very important to the team. KKR had bought Umran Malik at the base price of 75 Lakhs in the mega Auction.
Umran Malik generates express pace & takes wickets in quick succession, making him loved by fans. He is very fast and bowls the ball quickly. That’s why people call him Speed Demon. He struggled with form and consistency and was in and out of the team in the 2023 edition. In 2024, Mailk will play one of the matches for a team, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). That was the last big match. He didn’t bowl many overs, but showed glimpses of his old self.
Umran Malik so far has taken 29 wickets in 26 IPL games. The fast bowler had a break-through year in IPL 2022 where he took 22 wickets in 14 matches but since then he hasn’t been able to perform create a fear in batters’ mind as they are easily whacking him around the park.
Chance for Chetan Sakariya after Umran Malik’s injury
KKR was hoping Mailk would play well for them. They wanted him to bowl fast and help the team win. Malik has a special way of bowling that is fast and energetic. He can bowl Yorkers and bouncers, making it difficult for batsmen to score. KKR was counting on him to bring energy to the pitch. They found Chetan Sakariya, a fast bolwer from Rajasthan.
He was injured, but now he is back KKR excited. Can Sakariya replace Umarn Malik ? Sakariya needs and wants to prove himself. Sakariya also has represented India and played IPL for Rajasthan Royals (RR) & Delhi Capitals (DC). Sakariya has played 19 IPL matches and has taken 20 wickets. Will he be working hard to help KKR win? Only time will tell. KKR fans waiting anxiously. Can Sakariya help win the trophy again?
