Son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, Archie Vaughan, has agreed to his first professional contract with Somerset. The 18-year-old, who attended Millfield School from the age of 15, is a top-order hitter and offspinner. He joined the Taunton program in 2020. His contract will go into effect on November 1 and initially cover the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
In 2022, Michael Vaughan made his debut for the second team of Somerset. He currently plays cricket locally for Taunton St Andrews. During the main squad’s preseason tour of the United Arab Emirates, he participated in the Abu Dhabi T20 Counties Super Cup third-place play-off against his father’s county, Yorkshire, and scored 35 runs off 28 balls in a three-wicket victory. He hasn’t yet played for the first team.
