Anil Kumble – 5/5 vs RR, 2009
RCB was facing the defending champions at Capetown. RCB batted first and posted 133 runs on board. Thanks to Rahul Dravid’s half century and useful contribution from Kevin Pietersen. But the score was still below par and RR are favourites to win the game until the Kumble’s magic happened.
The damage was started by Praveen Kumar and Jessy Ryder who picked 2 each of the first four wickets. But Kumble came and stole the show with his extraordinary performance and never allowed RR to comeback in the game. He choked them with his spin completely.
He picked 5 wickets and gave just 5 runs. RR are bowled out for just 58 runs. This remained as the lowest total in IPL for 8 years.
Sameul Badree – 9/4 vs MI, 2017
This match happened against MI at Bengaluru in 2017. RCB batted first and scored 142 runs. Not enough at the Chinnaswamy ground. MI started their innings and Stuart Binny removed Buttler earlier. Sameul Badree in the 3rd over had a great surprise for MI. He removed Parthiv Patel and Rohit Sharma in back-to-back deliveries.
Then MI thought of sending Mitchell Mcleanaghan up the order to get some quick 20 runs to change the momentum of the match. But the gamble back fired them. Mclenaghan lost his wicket in the hattrick ball. Samuel Badree became the first RCB bowler to pick a hat trick in IPL.
MI was reduced to 7/4 all of a sudden. Then the man of crisis Keiron Pollard walked in and changed the match towards them completely. MI won the match by 4 wickets with the help of Polly’s 70(47) knock.
Harshal Patel – 5/27 vs MI, 2021
Harshal Patel was bought for a huge price of 10.75 crores by RCB in that year. They faced MI at Chennai as the matches were happening in a neutral venue. MI batted first and was in a comfortable position of 94/2 in 11 years. Then Harshal Patel came in and troubled the MI batters with his slowest one and variations. This Chepauk pitch suited him very well.
MI batters got deceived in his slow yorkers. His spell affected the run flow and changed the momentum towards RCB. MI were restricted to 159/9 in 20 overs. They scored just 65 runs and lost 7 wickets in the last 9 overs. Harshal Patel took a fifer and finished his spell for 4-27-5.
