Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) batter Sameer Rizvi had a dream debut where he scored 14 runs in only 6 balls and struck 2 sixes. Sameer Rizvi is tipped to be the next big thing in Word cricket as he has got wide range of shots. Rizvi was promoted ahead of the flamboyant all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and on his very first delivery, he whacked Rashid Khan for a six which stunned everyone.
CSK’s batting coach Mike Hussey had said in one of his interviews that they would promote Sameer Rizvi up the order and had pointed out that he has the potential to be a dangerous finisher for the team. The peculiarity of CSK is that they have got ‘n’ type of match winners which can win the contest for the team.
CSK’s next match is against Delhi Capitals (DC) on 31st March 2024 at Vishakhapatnam and all eyes will be on Sameer Rizvi who might get a promotion and can dazzle on the given day. CSK might think of bringing the spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner into the playing 11 as he is someone who too can be used as a pinch hitter on the given day.
The first ball I got was right in the slot- Sameer Rizvi
Sameer Rizvi was having an interaction with the media. Sameer Rizvi was well aware of the fact that he needed to play fearless brand of cricket as he was sent in the 19th over. Sameer Rizvi stated that he has talks with his fellow mates and asks them questions on how to tackle a particular situation and said that he always wants to learn.
“The kind of situation I was sent in in the 19th over, it was clear that I had to go for a big shot if the ball was on my radar. It was as it is the penultimate overs. Thankfully the first ball I got was right in the slot. I backed myself to clear the boundary and that’s how I got a six,” said Sameer Rizvi.
Whenever I have any doubts, I keep asking different players about how they would approach a certain situation be it in the field or while batting. I ask them about their mindset before and after they walk out to bat. These are the things I want to learn,” he added.
