Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans would be over the moon as the iconic skipper MS Dhoni is set to play another IPL season. Although, CSK’s middle order looks a bit fragile as Ambati Rayudu had announced his retirement after winning the IPL 2023 edition. Ambati Rayudu was a part of 2018, 2021 & 2023 triumphs and had a great bond with MS Dhoni.
CSK though have been dealt with a huge blow as the Kiwi left handed batter Devon Conway has been ruled out of the first half of the tournament due to an injury. At the same time, there is uncertainty over the availability of the lethal speedster Matheesha Pathirana which is a huge concern for the defending champions.
I am sure MS Dhoni will promote a youngster- Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu was seen interacting with Star Sports. Ambati Rayudu was quite confident that MS Dhoni will give a chance to the rising batter in the middle order. Ambati Rayudu also stated that MS Dhoni might bat up the order but Rayudu was unsure whether MS Dhoni will bat in the top order.
“With Dhoni Bhai, you never know. But knowing him and knowing what happened in the last few seasons, I am sure he will promote a youngster there. He might promote himself up a number or two, but not in the top order,” said Ambati Rayudu.
CSK’s dangerous batting line up
There are high chances that the scintillating left handed batter Moeen Ali will bat up the order at no.3 position. CSK’s management would be hopeful that Moeen Ali rolls his arm as well as he is someone who can contribute in all the 3 facets of the game and has got the ‘X’ factor and can create havoc against spinners in the middle overs.
Ajinkya Rahane can be seen batting up the order and perhaps open the batting along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. The peculiarity of CSK is that they have got a lot of pinch hitters in the form of Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja & Shardul Thakur as against CSK, no target is safe which makes them a team to beat.
