Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were knocked out of the tournament after losing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday. Chennai Super Kings had a decent season under new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, though he managed the team well but some mistakes that they should work on, and need to avoid those mistakes next season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad had a solid season with the bat, bowlers like Tushar Deshpande, Lankan lion Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman also had a great season. MS Dhoni was the highlight of the season despite his leg injury he did wicket keeping whole season and came to bat in lower order but played handful of balls which turned out to be a delight for the fans. MS Dhoni scored 161 runs and smashed many boundaries. Now the most important question that arises is whether MS Dhoni will play next season or not.
This year Dhoni gave the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad but couldn’t qualify for the playoffs still it was a good season compared to the 2022 season where they got eliminated very early after sacking the captaincy, Ravindra Jadeja was the captain in that season but in next season MS Dhoni again took over the captaincy and were crowned as Champions for the fifth time.
AB De Villers expresses his views about MS Dhoni
Former proteas explosive batter and skipper AB De Villiers expresses his views for MS Dhoni, he wants Dhoni to play next season too. He says:
“I will only give you an honest answer if you’re going to report it in the right way yes so I wouldn’t say I called it a mistake. What I meant by that was with MS Dhoni around, playing against MS for so many years, that is the most intimidating sight to have him as an opposing captain,” said AB de Villiers
“They took away quite a bit of intimidation factor from CSK with not having him as captain. It’s got nothing to do with Gaikwad’s captaincy. I think he’s got a very bright future and he captained extremely well,” he added.
“But just having MS around, I always felt like it’s going to be a waste not having him as captain. They tried it before. It didn’t work (when Jadeja was replaced mid-season). And unfortunately this year, yes, you’ve got to look at the results,” ABD said.
“The majority of the games they played well, but at the end of the day they didn’t qualify for the knockouts. It’s definitely not because of Gaikwad’s captaincy. I do however ever feel that when MS is around he should be captain,” added the South African.
