England opener Zak Crawley has asserted that the team will maintain their aggressive mindset in the upcoming Test series against India. The right-handed batter Zak Crawley emphasized the importance of staying focused on the present and being adaptable in their preparations.
India are yet to lose a Test series in their backyard since 2012. Former England captain Alastair Cook & head coach Andy Flower were quite clinical in making strategies as at that time, India had all the bases covered under the leadership of the former iconic skipper MS Dhoni. It would require a helluva of effort from British side to beat Rohit Sharma’s brigade.

Reflecting on the series loss to India in 2020-21, Crawley, who emerged as England’s leading run-scorer in the 2023 Ashes series, highlighted the need to approach the Indian conditions with an open mind. He stated that the team won’t alter their approach and will assess the situation based on the conditions they encounter.
“We’re not going to change our approach. It has to be judged at the time. We talk about being fully present… you have to adapt your gameplan and play the situation. You can’t decide that until you’re out there and you’re reading the situation,” Zak Crawley explained.
The 25-year-old acknowledged the unpredictability of Indian pitches and emphasized the importance of adapting to the specific conditions of each Test match. Crawley also shared his struggles with wanting results too much in his career, emphasizing the need to trust the process and focus on playing freely.
“I’ve struggled a lot in my career with wanting the result too much… It’s certainly something I still battle with. I’m working on getting in that mindset of just going out and playing, rather than thinking I need to make a score right now,” Crawley added.
