Former English Batter Michael Vaughan has issued a warning to England on their approach for the upcoming test series against India. Michael Vaughan said that England’s Bazball approach might be blown away facing the likes of Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar on spinning tracks.

England currently sits in 7th position in the WTC table after they drew the series against Australia 2-2. They will face a stern test against India in the new year. The teams will face each other in Five tests. The action begins in Hyderabad on Jan 25.

Bazball named after their coach Brendon McCullum has paid England cricket dividends. The approach was adopted by the team led by Ben Stokes and has blown away teams with a fast attacking style of play. The team won 13 of their previous 18 red-ball games with this approach.

However, it backfired a few times and they were trailing 0-2 against Australia in the Ashes 2023. Australian Spinner Nathan Lyon tied down the batsmen with his accurate bowling and didn’t let the English batsmen implement Bazball to perfection. The veteran spinner was injured in the second game and missed the rest of the series allowing England to claw-back into the series and finish it 2-2.

It’s going to be very tough for England to win in India- Michael Vaughan

Speaking to Fox Sports, the former England Captain has expressed his concern on how will the England batsman fare against three quality spinners in the Indian conditions. He elaborated,

“If you add in Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar Patel on spinning wickets in India, they may get blown away, they may get absolutely destroyed. They will go out and play exactly the same way, we’ve already spoken about the impact they are going to try and achieve in India with the way they play,” said Michael Vaughan.

Vaughan added,

“It will be great watching, but you will have to fancy three quality spinners might do a job on England when one quality spinner in Nathan Lyon did the job in English conditions. It’s going to be very tough for them to win in India,” he added.

England announced the squad for the Indian tour yesterday, The 16-member squad includes 4 spinners Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley, and Shoaib Bashir. The team will be looking to repeat the heroics of 2012/13 when they won the Pataudi Trophy 2-1 in India.

Not one Australian can look me in the eye and say they didn’t admire the way England played- Michael Vaughan

Michel Vaughan has admitted that he is a fan of Bazball and has said that there is not one person who did not admire the way England is playing. Their approach has brought a lot of attention and impressed everyone with their brave and bold decisions.

“I’m a huge admirer of Bazball, I think it’s been a revelation in the last 18 months and there’s not one Australian that can look me in the eye and say they didn’t admire the way England played in the Ashes. ll right they didn’t win the Ashes but the way England went about their cricket was fantastic, everyone loved watching them play, it’s risky, at times it is bonkers,” said Michael Vaughan.

The Former England Captain added,

“There are times where it is absolutely crackers but it’s great to watch and I’ve not met one Australian, they have enjoyed watching them play,” he added.

Amidst a lot of criticism, Bazball has made test cricket alive once again and will be looking to do the same against India and answer any doubts remaining.
