As ICC World Test Championship 2023 is approaching, Australia and India are both gearing up for this grand match in The Oval Ground, commencing from 7th June onwards. Ricky Ponting, the former Australian cricketer, has put his bets on Australia and said that his nation has the edge over India. Ricky Ponting believes that both teams are strong and assertive, thus they both are deserving to win the title.
Ahead of the ICC WTC finals, Ricky Ponting said that there wasn’t much to separate the two teams, but he handed his nation the edge over the sub-continental nation. India can’t afford to get complacent as a short phase of 45 mins can ruin all the hard work.

Ricky Ponting was having an interaction with the media and gave an upper edge to Australia, saying that they might take away the game from India and win the title. He stated:
“Australia are slight favorites, there wasn’t much between them through two years. So, that says that these two teams have beaten more opposition than they have lost to and they deserve to finish first and second. There’s a lot of factors that could play a part through the week,” said Ricky Ponting.
Aussies Preparations For The Upcoming ICC WTC Finals
Ricky Ponting has also talked about the preparations and said that “Australians have done nothing”. They haven’t been playing any cricket at all. Whilst, India have been playing plenty of competitive matches in the past 2 months.
Australia was soundly trounced by India in the Border-Gavaskar trophy, they would have ceded their top spot if they had not achieved victory in the 3rd match against India during Border- Gavaskar trophy. So, they must consider what actions to undertake in order to not be defeated again.
They are preparing hard, Steve smith and Marnus Labuschagne have been playing county cricket in England for past 2 months to adapt themselves of the English conditions. It will be a battle of wits between the two country, and only the strongest will emerge victorious.
