ICC T20 World Cup 2024: “I Understand If You Were MS Dhoni That You Were Brought Back”- Ahmed Shehzad Blasts Babar Azam’s Captaincy Ahead Of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Campaign

Pakistan will kickstart their campaign on June 6 against hosts USA and will look to open their account against them. Pakistan recently lost the T20I series against England and earlier they shared the series against New Zealand. Pakistan is not consistent and they haven’t prepared much for the World Cup. The last few months have been forgetful for them and will look to overcome it. Shaheen Shah Afridi resigned as the captain of white-ball cricket and Babar Azam was appointed captain once again.

Ahmed Shehzad slams Babar Azam

Former Pakistan player Ahmed Shehzad gets crossed with Babar Azam’s captaincy. Since he has led the team to 5 ICC tournaments and has won nothing it surely comes to the captaincy how Babar is managing the team and have no co-operation between them. Earlier Shaheen Shah Afridi was appointed as the captain but soon he felt that it was not his cup of tea so he resigned from the captaincy after the New Zealand series. Then a chronology of serial events started Pakistan management resigned from their position later new core management was appointed Gary Kristen will be white-ball head coach while Jason Gillespie will be test cricket head coach. Then after Babar Azam was reappointed as captain of the team. Ahmed Shehzad says:

“They [Sarfaraz Ahmed and Co.] produced the results and won the Champions Trophy. It justifies, you also win this event and justify. However, you’ve got a longer run, one captain doesn’t get five events. You were removed and then brought back.

“I understand if you were MS Dhoni that you were brought back. But no. It’s wrong with Shaheen, you made him captain for two matches and then you removed him.”

If such kind of attitude remains in the camp then team spirit won’t exist and will have some differences between the team players. Earlier Pakistan too was considered the strongest team including players like Shahid Afridi, Misbah-Ul-Haq, Sohail Tanvir, Sarfaraz Ahmed, etc. Pakistan last won their ICC trophy in 2017 under Sarfaraz Ahmed.
