Indian team declared their squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup they have included four spinners in the squad and Yuzvendra Chahal made a comeback after a long time. The inclusion of four spinners has made to think why four spinners are needed. Kuldeep Yadav has worked immensely on his variations as his numbers over the past 2 years in IPL & for team India has been quite impressive.
It will be interesting to see whether Yuzvendra Chahal makes the cut for the playing 11 after missing out on the previous 2 T20 WCs. It looks unlikely that India will go in with 3 spinners: Chahal, Kuldeep & Jadeja as the pitches in USA will be quite unpredictable. During the press conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had indirectly given a hint that Shivam Dube will be a part of the playing 11 and at the same time, he will also bowl a couple of overs for the team.
Anil Kumble backs Kuldeep Yadav
Former Indian coach and spin wizard Anil Kumble backs Kuldeep Yadav and feels he will shine as a spinner in the T20 World Cup. Kuldeep Yadav had a good yet decent IPL season still he has maintained his form and remains economical sometimes. West Indies have a bit of slow pitches so the bowl can turn well. Anil Kumble says:
“I don’t know who will be starting in the first game against Ireland. Kuldeep for sure. I don’t know what the pitch conditions are. I don’t think any Indian team has played in the US other than in Fort Lauderdale. So it all depends on the pitch conditions,” Kumble told select media in an interaction arranged by JioCinema.
“I guess Kuldeep probably will be the number one spinner in that sense because he’s your wrist spinner. I’m sure there’ll be one wrist spinner who will play,” said Kumble who expects spinners to play a major role in the tournament,” he added.
Kuldeep Yadav is an all-format player and his role will be important, especially in the West Indies can’t predict the USA pitches but he will be top prior spinner for India and will shine more in the World Cup.
