India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, shreds his memories of when India won the World Cup after 28 years. Ravindra Jadeja shared his flashbacks while watching the final match between India and Sri Lanka in the 2011 ODI WC.

Ravindra Jadeja shared that he was watching a match with his teammates, and they were enjoying the match and filled with emotions. A moment came when he felt a bit nervous when India lost early wickets while chasing 275 in the final match.

That night was such a special and iconic night for India because they won the World Cup after 28 years. It was really a proud moment for India and emotional as well because India was playing in the home conditions and expectations were really high.

It was Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni who took the charge to win the cup for India after such a long span. Gambhir fell just short of his ton, and Dhoni remained not out on 91 and finished the match with a huge six straight down the ground.

Sri Lanka posted a target of 275 for India, helped by the stunning century from Mahela Jayawardene and a quick-fire knock from Thisara Perera. While chasing India, they lost quick wickets and were in trouble, but the duo of Gautam Gambhir and MS. Dhoni led the team to a famous victory in the finals.

In his interview with Star Sports, Ravindra Jadeja talked about sharing all his memories from the 2011 World Cup final between India & Sri Lanka. Ravindra Jadeja pointed out that he remembers everything of 2011 WC and said that he got a bit nervous when Lasith Malinga got rid of Virender Sehwag & Sachin Tendulkar during India’s run chase of 275 runs.

“We had a practice session for the IPL, but it got cancelled because India was playing the World Cup final against Sri Lanka. All the teammates were sitting in the same room to watch the final match. We all felt nervous after India lost quick wickets,” said Ravindra Jadeja.

“But MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir turned around the match for us. I still remember everything from that night; it is very fresh in my mind. It was a very proud moment for Indian cricket. There are a lot of expectations from the fans to win the World Cup, especially if it is happening in their own country.”
