According to Sarfaraz Khan, prior to receiving the call regarding his call-up to the Indian national squad, he was really preparing to join the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team. Sarfaraz Khan has been named one of the substitutes for KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.

For their upcoming second Test matchup with England in Visakhapatnam on February 2, Sarfaraz Khan has been included in the Indian team. He recently said that when he received the news, he was with the India A squad and getting ready to return to the Ranji Trophy.

Sarfaraz was a notable run scorer in domestic cricket. When he eventually received his first Test call-up, many in the cricket community were relieved to see him as a substitute for the injured KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.

It was a bit tough to believe in the beginning- Sarfaraz Khan

In a recent interview, Sarfaraz Khan discussed the feelings he and his family experienced upon discovering that he had been selected for the Indian team. In a video that BCCI posted on their website, he stated:

“I was about to go to play Ranji Trophy and had packed my India A clothes aside. Suddenly I got a call and came to know that I was selected. It was a bit tough to believe in the beginning. But then I called my father as he wasn’t at home and he and the entire family were emotional,”

Following an incredible 161 off just 160 balls for India A in the second multi-day match against the England Lions, Sarfaraz Khan is in high spirits. Given his current form, the hosts might give him a starting role right away and hope for success.

“I had a dream that my India A teammates were congratulating me and shaking my hand. It was a recurring dream that I will get selected in the Indian team and I am scoring runs. Whatever happens, happens for good. Whenever I play, it will be a dream come true,” he added.

This game is all about patience-Sarfaraz Khan

The young Indian player, whose excruciatingly long wait to be included in the India squad finally ended earlier this week, is eager to see what the future holds, hopefully including a possible India debut.

Sarfaraz’s prospects of being selected for a game are uncertain. With his ability to play spin, he might replace KL Rahul or fall behind Rajat Patidar in the pecking order.

Despite having two tremendous red-ball seasons under his belt, Sarfaraz Khan was still waiting for his first India call-up. Despite the fact that it would have been normal for any player to feel discouraged, he concentrated on being patient and continued to score more runs.

“In the end, it’s a game of patience. If we want to play Test cricket, we have to show patience. In life, there are times when we rush ourselves,”

After 45 first-class games, Sarfaraz has an astounding average of 69.85, with 3912 runs scored and as many as 14 hundreds.
