Salman Butt, the former captain of Pakistan, has brought attention to the fact that Azam Khan, a keeper-batter, hasn’t had much of an influence on the international scene thus far. Butt emphasized how Azam had only amassed 19 runs in seven T20Is. Against New Zealand in a five-match T20I series, Azam Khan returned to Pakistan’s team. But in his first two matches, he was unable to connect, scoring only 10 and 2 runs.

“Azam Khan has 19 runs from seven T20Is. People have started questioning his place in the team. Already, you carry something with you regarding fitness, and if you fail to perform consistently, I don’t know how long you will survive,” Butt said.

“How many players have scored 19 runs from seven matches in Pakistan’s history? He must take this seriously. If he continues to fail in the remaining matches, I don’t think he will get chances in the future,” he added.

Salman Butt went on to say that Azam Khan must get in better shape. Although the player has performed admirably in objective, he does not appear to be an international cricketer due to his level of fitness, according to his suggestion.

Butt went on to say that Azam will stay under scrutiny as long as he gets fitter:

“It is not like he gets tired quickly or is unfit. He is not sluggish and can also dive. However, it is just that appearance that he carries. For him, for the people who are playing cricket, and for the people who are watching, it will also be a topic of discussion. It doesn’t matter if it bothers him or not; it is going to happen. An international-level athlete should look better.”

Azam’s next appearance will be in Pakistan’s third T20I against New Zealand on Wednesday at the University Oval in Dunedin.
