Indian ex-opener Aakash Chopra appreciated the test batsman Rishabh Pant for his great performance following the first Test against England. He also mentioned that Rishabh Pant is a person who changed the face of cricket in his own terms.
Aakash Chopra’s take on Rishabh Pant’s future in ODI cricket
England defeated India in the first Test by five wickets on 24th June at Leeds. While India has played at their best, their weak fielding and sloppy batting have assisted England to beat India. Indian batsmen such as Rishabh Pant were played brilliantly against England. The specialty of Pant is that he doesn’t play cricket, but he idealizes it.
Former Indian batsman turned commentator Aakash Chopra has loved Rishabh Pant and his talent for cricket. Pant was the first Indian wicketkeeper to score centuries in both innings in a Test. As per Akash Chopra, Pant is sort of young cricketer in whom people can fall in love with test cricket. Whereas he was appreciating Pant, he also stated that the person who excels at one form does not necessarily have to play at another format by stating that,
“Even his number (just like Shreyas Iyer’s in Tests) will not come now. This is the irony of Indian cricket. It is also the most beautiful thing. You feel everyone can be kept. That means there is depth. That means there is variety. That means there are choices, and having choices is a great thing for India,”
In speaking of his performance on ODI, Chopra inhis recent video has observed that Pant does have any place in One Day International Match as they fixed the batting orderly. He stated that,
“However, how will his number come now? It’s difficult. You see Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in ODI cricket, and then Hardik Pandya comes, and there is no space for him now,”
Rishabh Pant in his Test career, has has amassed over 3200 out of 44 matches. the 27 years old batsman has barely upset his fans as he is the reason for test cricket fans cheers.
Aakash Chopra’s take on Rishabh Pant’s place in T20I side
While Aakash Chopra was speaking on his You Tube channel about Pant’s position altogether, he said that it won’t be piece of cake for Pant to play in ODI as he dominates Test. Chopra also told he is one of funky cricketer world has ever seen by saying that,
“Even in T20 cricket, his number will come at some stage, but considering how the IPL went, it won’t come immediately, nor will he get a chance to play in ODIs immediately. It’s a very curious case of Rishabh Pant because the guy rules Test cricket, which is the most difficult format. He is one of the best that the world has ever seen. He is box office, an entertainer, and interesting,”
Even though he is struggling in someformats, he soon will recover and hopefully Rishabh position would come as per Akash Chopra. He uttered through his latest video that,
“However, he is still lacking somewhere in understanding the DNA of the other formats, and that was evident in this year’s IPL as well. He did score a century for sure before leaving, but not the same thing. So his number will come, but just like Shreyas (in Tests), he will have to wait. The fruits of waiting are sweet,”
Whereas Rishabh made good score in Test matches, he also scored over 871 off 31 matches in one day cricket at the average of 33.50 and 5291 runs in T20 excellently.
