Former England player, Michael Vaughan criticizes England for not being impactful enough on the first day of the second Test Ashes 2023.  Michael Vaughan claims that bowlers showcased a mediocre performance, and were unacceptable, they should have been able to put pressure on The Aussies.

Australia outplayed England on the first day of the second Test Ashes 2023, they smashed 339 runs, and still, 5 wickets are on hand. England will be in a dire strait if they failed to take wickets in a rapid succession on the second day. Barring Josh Tongue none of the other bowlers proved to be fruitful. Anderson and Broad remain wicketless on the first day despite the conditions being in favor of seamers.

“Young players coming out with bold statements, the casual approach came out today in the middle..” – Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan mentions that taking out audacious and big statements won’t do, they have to take action. England’s disappointing performance on the first day has dismayed many fans and cricket experts. He Mentioned while talking to Sky Cricket:

“Australia’s day, England not sharp enough. England have got this approach to Test cricket that is quite casual, they talk the talk, the message after Edgbaston was very positive. Young players coming out with bold statements, the casual approach came out today in the middle.” said Michael Vaughan.

“You get David Warner out and Steve Smith walks out and within 15 balls, he’s got 25 because England bowled utter dross,” he stated.

“England know they are up against an Australian side that have never won in English conditions. They’ve got the bit between their teeth, they are so focused. The teams Glenn McGrath played in used to win here all the time, but a lot of real high-class cricketers have never won here.  This England side better start smelling the roses because this Australia side aren’t going away,” he added.
