ZIM vs IND: India’s New Head Coach To Join From Sri Lanka Tour: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 India won the title of T20 World Cup and with that, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirements from T20IS and head coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure also ends with this World Cup.

Under Rahul Dravid’s leadership India reached 3 times in the finals they remained two times runners-up but in the end, he hit the stroke and won the World Cup while finishing his tenure. His legacy as a player we have seen but his coaching and leadership will be remembered for a long time.

Jay Shah confirms arriving of a new coach

With the tenure ends of Rahul Dravid and then adding the T20 World Cup to his bucket, now curiosity has arisen about who will be appointed as the new head coach past many days rumors have been spreading and some reports too were suggesting that Gautam Gambhir the frontier to become new head coach of India. Since the celebrations were going on and everyone was happy after winning the World Cup. But now the new assignments, new series will commence as a young squad for Zimbabwe series has announced and Shubman Gill will be leading the side and it will start from July 6 and for this series VVS Laxman is appointed as interim coach of India, but the new head coach will join the team on Sri Lanka tour. Jay Shah said:

“Both coach and selector appointments will be made shortly. CAC has interviewed and shortlisted two names and after reaching Mumbai whatever they have decided we will go by that. VVS Laxman is going to Zimbabwe, but a new coach will join from the Sri Lanka series.”

As we all know Gautam Gambhir has won two World Cups one in 2007 and the other in 2011, and he also won two IPL titles under his captaincy for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), recently KKR won their third title under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir so it’s not a bad option to appoint him as head coach he will bring his new strategies, new ideas, and so Indian team will be shaped newly under Gautam’s leadership. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah spoke after India’s jubilant win in the World Cup.
