After a successful run in the Asia Cup 2023, the Men in Blue are now ready to join a clash against the Mighty Australians starting on September 22. at Mohali, the Player of the series for the tournament, Kuldeep Yadav, has been rested for the first two matches of the series, and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma feels they don’t want to expose Kuldeep Yadav before the World Cup 2023.

Kuldeep Yadav is a game-changer for the team, and he showed his importance in the Asia Cup 2023, where he won Player of the Series and helped the team win their 7th title. He has given some rest for the ODI series against Australia, and Rohit Sharma makes all the things clear about resting him.

Rohit Sharma was seen attending the press conference and heaped praise on the left arm chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Rohit pointed out that Kuldeep Yadav is bowling exceptionally well and said that the management & selection panel and clearly mentioned BCCI’s chief selector name Ajit Agarkar’s name while making a statement on players.

“Kuldeep Yadav is a rhythm bowler; we are all aware of that. But we thought of a lot of things and took this tough call. He is bowling really well; like Ajit said, we had to give players at least a chance to those who played just one game in the Asia Cup 2023 and are in the World Cup squad 2023 as well.”

We don’t intend to expose Kuldeep Yadav before the mega event- Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma said that Kuldeep Yadav has been around the side since the last one and a half years. Rohit revealed why Kuldeep Yadav is rested for the first 2 ODIs against Australia. Rohit said that Kuldeep would get ample match practice as there are 2 warm up matches ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

“We have been looking at Kuldeep for the last one and a half years; this is why we don’t intend to expose him before the mega event. He is coming back for the last match. There are a lot of reasons. This is the best decision for us, I think, to have him rest for two games and play the third. We have a couple of practice matches as well, so he should get his bowling rhythm right,” he added.
