Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 Washington Freedom is through to the finals of MLC 2024 after defeating the San Francisco Unicorns. Washington Freedom has lost just one match in the tournament, their dream run continues in MLC and so they will play in the finals.
San Francisco Unicorns dismantled
San Francisco Unicorns came to bat first but somehow they sounded very low as if they hadn’t prepared, both openers lost very early wickets so they lost control over the game, last match hero Sanjay Krishnamurthi also failed to score, and big names like Josh Inglis and Sherfane Rutherford too failed to deliver, before reaching to 50 San Francisco Unicorns lost 4 wickets, later Hassan Khan played a crucial inning of 57 runs but he too dismissed and couldn’t deliver big enough but his innings was able to reach a par score of 145 but lost all wickets. Considering the Qualifier match San Francisco Unicorns completely failed in batting.
Rachin Ravindra and Marco Jansen stole the show for Washington Freedom
Washington Freedom has been dominating the team since the start of the tournament their bowlers have been the backbone of the team and they performed well in every match. Every bowler outshined but only two bowlers remain a highlight of the day Rachin Ravindra and Marco Jansen both together picked 7 wickets and dominated over the San Francisco Unicorns. Contribution from them was need of an hour and knowing the importance of Qualifiers bowlers rose to the occasion. Saurabh Netravalkar picked 2 wickets.
Washington Freedom gave ‘Headache’ to San Francisco Unicorns
So the target was quite simple to conquer and Washington Freedom played as a complete team and so the batters too showed their class, Travis Head is known for his ‘headache’ innings for the opposition once again he proved his class and played extremely well and made 77 runs unbeaten which made Washington Freedom to book there berth for finals of MLC 2024. Despite losing wickets in between Washington Freedom was on a good track and Glenn Maxwell also supported well with his knock of 54 which came within 23 balls and seems like Glenn Maxwell is back after a string of poor form this showed he gained his form back. Travis Head was adjourned as Man Of the Match.
Flop day for San Francisco Unicorns
San Francisco Unicorns had a bad day first with the bat and then with the ball, even bowlers couldn’t defend the score as it was quite simple and achievable so the bowlers almost surrendered as they were aware of the situation. Still, the positive sign was Hassan Khan who scored fifty with the bat then picked 2 wickets and Pat Cummins picked 1 wicket. San Francisco Unicorns will face Texas Super Kings in Qualifier 2.
