Former Pakistan Skipper Salman Butt expressed the view that comparing Pakistan to India in Test cricket isn’t fair, considering India’s commendable record in the red-ball cricket. Butt noted that despite India’s loss in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, they have a remarkable record at home. In contrast, Salman Butt highlighted that Pakistan has struggled to dominate even on home soil.

Pakistan have a very bad habit of falling like a pack of cards when they are not only chasing a target but when they are in ascendancy which ruins all of their hard work. Pakistani fans would be hoping that the newly appointed skipper Shan Masood brings out a change where the team not only gels well but reaches a zenith level.

Pakistan loses games even at home – Salman Butt

Pakistan failed to register a win in their last 8 test matches at home which include series defeats to Australia and England. Meanwhile, India is a formidable side at home winning a staggering 36 tests from 46 since 2013 and no touring team managed to win a series in India since their defeat to England in 2012.

In his latest YouTube video, Salman Butt shared his thoughts, stating,

“India have always struggled in South Africa. They have won in Australia but have not looked very comfortable in South Africa. However, you still cannot compare Pakistan to India. They at least win all of their home Tests; we tend to lose even at home,” said Salman Butt.

“The comparison isn’t there. Pakistan have never won a series in Australia, whereas they have won two over there. India have played good cricket in England as well,” he added.

Pakistan has not performed at their best in the ongoing three-match Test series against Australia. Under the captaincy of Shan Masood, they faced consecutive defeats, going 0-2 down in the series.

There won’t be any difference between cricket and baseball- Salman Butt on CSA announcing a second string test squad for NZ tour

Salman Butt voiced his dissatisfaction with South Africa naming an inexperienced squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand. He criticized the decision to leave out senior players due to the SA20 league, stating that it could impact the quality of Test cricket.

Salman Butt said that Cricket South Africa (CSA) should take notice of this issue and work towards finding a solution. Butt added,

“South Africa have named an inexperienced squad for the Test series, in which the captain himself is a debutant. Such a team was made just because their main players wanted to play in T20 leagues. I don’t know if they will think about this or will just continue to distribute NOCs to the players. All of the top-class cricketers know that this is very wrong. If such things continue, there won’t be any difference between cricket and baseball,” said Salman Butt.

It’s worth noting that South African selectors have appointed uncapped player Neil Brand as the captain for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, scheduled to commence on February 4.
