Australia’s flamboyant right handed batter Tim David was in a no-mercy mode in the 1st T20I match against South Africa. Tim David played a fiery knock of 64 runs in 28 balls and struck 7 fours and 4 huge sixes. Tim David had come into bat when the Aussies were reduced 77-4 in 7 overs.

Tim David along with Mitchell Marsh made sure that they capitalized on loose deliveries and didn’t allow any bowler to settle down. Tim David was involved in a 97-run partnership in 50 balls as there was carnage at Durban. The duo took South Africa out of the game as chasing 227 runs was never going to be an easy task.

Tim David a Dangerous Batter

Tim David used the sweep shot quite brilliantly and whacked the spinners all around the park. The batter unleashed attack on the opposition and it seemed as if he was playing with the bowler’s mind. Cricket Australia (CA) would be thrilled after seeing the dynamic knock of Tim David which not only helped Aussies win the contest by 111 runs but have raised questions in the South African camp.

Clinical Performance by Australia

Australia made a statement that they are in South Africa to dominate and not just to participate. The side though have a lot to ponder as the openers Travis Head & Matthew Short couldn’t get the team to a flyer. Josh Inglis too couldn’t make the most of an opportunity.

Australia would be aiming to seal the T20I series on 1st September (*Friday) so that they can try other combinations in the last T20I match. Skipper Mitchell Marsh had a dream start to his captaincy tenure and it won’t be wrong to say that Marsh can be a candidate to lead Australia in T20 WC 2024 which is staged in USA-West Indies in June 2024.
