Babar Azam has become the fastest batter to score 10K runs in T20 cricket. He achieved the record on Wednesday, February 21, while playing for Peshawar Zalmi in their match against the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Babar broke the record of Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat back in his 285th innings while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 match against the defunct Gujarat Lions in Rajkot. Babar went past Gayle by reaching the milestone in his 271st innings. Virat Kohli and David Warner are 3rd and 4th in the list, having got there in 299 and 303 innings respectively.
Babar Azam has been a crucial member of the Pakistan team across all 3 formats. He was not in the best of form in the Test series against Australia, but he showed his class in the T20I series.
