MLC 2023: Wayne Parnell’s Sensational 5-Wicket Haul Powers SOR To A Resounding Victory Against TSK

With the help of a Man of Match Performance by their skipper Wayne Parnell (5-20), the Seattle Orcas defeated the Texas Super Kings in a one-sided affair to go to the top of the table. Bowling First SOR Bowlers especially their skipper Wayne Parnell kept everything in control as he bowled brilliantly and took a fifer.

With the help of some good finishes by Dwayne Bravo 39(39) and Daniel Sams 26(19) TSK were able to reach a below-par total as they got all out on 127.

Chasing a modest total of 128 runs Quinton de Kock 53(36) scored a quick-fire fifty and Henrich Klassen’s quickfire 42(21) saw them chase the target comfortably in 16 overs as they won the contest by 8 wickets.

MIXED START TO THE INNINGS FOR TSK

Seattle Orcas, won the toss and elected to bowl first and The match began with a bang as Imad Wasim, the left-arm spinner from Seattle Orcas, dismissed TSK’s opener Devon Conway on the very first ball. The Orcas were quick to put pressure on TSK, and a small partnership of 36 runs between Faf du Plessis 13(10) and Cody Chetty 22(18) was the only notable resistance in the early overs.

However, the game took a dramatic turn when Wayne Parnell entered the attack. The South African pacer bowled with precision and pace, causing havoc in the TSK batting lineup. Wayne Parnell first removed Cody Chetty, who was looking good, and then Andrew Tye got the crucial wicket of skipper Faf du Plessis.

Wayne Parnell’s lethal spell didn’t end there as he further rattled the middle order, dismissing David Miller 8(10) and Milind Kumar 1(7), leaving TSK reeling at 48/6.

BRAVO-SAMS REBUILD WELL:

Dwayne Bravo, the experienced all-rounder, and Daniel Sams took the responsibility of rebuilding the innings for TSK. Both batsmen displayed excellent temperament and started taking calculated risks to stabilize the innings.

Bravo, known for his big-hitting prowess, scored a crucial run-a-ball 39, while Daniel Sams contributed with 26 runs from 19 deliveries. Their partnership of 56 runs off 45 balls gave TSK a glimmer of hope to reach a respectable total.

WAYNE PARNELL CLEANS UP THE TAIL QUICKLY

But it was Andrew Tye, another valuable asset in Seattle Orcas’ bowling attack, who managed to break the partnership by dismissing Daniel Sams. Wayne Parnell, in his second spell, cleaned up Dwayne Bravo and the tail-enders in just three deliveries, completing his five-wicket haul.

Wayne Parnell finished the innings with impressive figures of 5 wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs. TSK struggled to recover from the blow, and their chances of posting a competitive total seemed bleak.

SEATTLE ORCAS’ PERFECT CHASE

With a target of 128 to chase, Seattle Orcas’ openers, Quinton de Kock and Nauman Anwar 19(32), showcased their intent from the beginning. The duo formed a formidable partnership, accumulating 63 runs and not allowing TSK to make any significant inroads.

After Nauman’s dismissal, Heinrich Klassen took charge and played a scintillating innings of 42 runs off just 21 balls, including some explosive shots. His aggressive approach ensured that Seattle Orcas achieved the target comfortably with eight wickets in hand and 4 overs to spare.

WHAT NEXT FOR BOTH THE TEAMS

The table toppers Seattle Orcas face the Los Angeles Knight Riders Tomorrow as they will look to put their one leg into the playoffs stage.

Whilst the Texas Super Kings would like to start fresh after this debacle as they face the San Francisco Unicorns on the 25th July.
